Kids fashion: Right Bank Babies and Umi shoes

I discovered Right Bank Babies last year when I first visited Shop Familia, a little boutique in the ground floor of La O' Centre just outside the gate of San Lorenzo Village, Makati. Ever since then, I'd been hooked. I really love the personality of the brand. It's playful but it's not out right cutesy. The clothes are witty. And they look almost home made. I especially like the vintage prints and silhouettes.

Lily has this dress. It's reversible. Sophia has a similar one but in a louder gold. It's so crazy. She wears it as a top.

I got this for Stella but she hasn't worn it yet though... maybe she should, tomorrow. No occasion.

I want to get these bloomers.

My little rabbit when she was just 6months old. This romper was still a bit big for her. But I was an over-eager mama. It's perfect for her now. It is also reversible.

From clothes to baby shoes. When my eldest was still a baby, I went overboard with her shoes. Pretty crib shoes in all colours. Again, I was an over-eager mother. When she learned how to walk she wore Robeez (leather mocs). They were great on carpet but on our waxed wooden floors, their suede soles eventually got too smooth and slippery. So I went for cheap squeaky sandals from SM, so I'd hear her waddle around the house. When my second was born, I didn't give her any baby shoes. I figured they won't really need shoes until they start to walk. She was my little barefoot baby. Then we got into See Kai Run and Pedipeds. Both were adorable and practical. Except the Pedipeds weren't non-skid, and they were too slippery for our wooden floors.

Stella never wanted to wear shoes. It's been fine with me because how I love to twiddle her toes with my fingers.

Now with Stella, I knew better. I got her leather mocs with rubber "footprints" on the soles. I found these at Shop Familia. The brand is called Umi. They're so cute. They don't exactly match. A few months ago I tried making Stella wear the Umis. But she'd end up using the shoes as a teether! Gasp! So I kept her barefoot... and instead she sucked her toes. Double gasp!

Stella started to take her first steps last month while we were still in Canada. Now she is in the process of practising her walk. And she loves it. She can't say much yet (unlike Sophia whose second word was "shoes" when she was 7 months old... not that I'm comparing). But she can communicate. And when she wants to walk she picks up these pink Umi shoes and puts them in my hand. So adorable! Another shoe lover.

Umi, Stella's first shoes.

Check out shopfamilia.com.ph. They have great sales.
