Hello, all. Remember me? I know this recap is so absurdly late that it's more than likely that no one cares anymore. Alas. This took me FOREVER to write, and I am damn well posting it, even if no one ever reads it. However, I am posting it in two parts, because I have officially reached the limit of what LJ will allow me to post in one entry. YEAH

Bonnie urges Elena not to string him along, and I brace myself for parallels. The problem is, the Matt situation doesn't really parallel our OT3 issue at all. Alas.
OMG THIS. I disagree with you about Matt/Elena. I really like the chemistry they have and was looking forward to seeing them in a time when they were a couple of crazy kids in love… except they weren't. Basically because the show wanted to make a parallel between Matt and Damon that really doesn't work. And it sucked. But I whined enough about it already so I'll shut up and keep reading.
Did not care for this moment. Especially when Stefan makes it all about how his free will was taken away from him and all that, and it just didn't work for me.Omg I'd forgotten that. That grated similarly to the weird OT3/Matt parallel. Because Stefan was already 100% Elena is ( ... )

This perplexed me also.
Meanwhile, Caroline and Tyler are debating their own crisis, and I do appreciate that Tyler mentions that their mothers need them to survive. Good on you, Tyler.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD ARE WE THE SAME PERSON? YES TO ALL YOUR TYLER/CAROLINE THOUGHTS. You have no idea how relieving it is to know other people feel these feels. Because I feel like such a party pooper with respect to Forwood sometimes - it's nice to know I'm not just making these objections up out of nothing.
Bonnie and Damon proceed to converse in a scene that consists entirely of them walking down the world's longest hallway. Walking and talking like real detectives - it's practically Law & Order. Keep it moving, kids. Makes you seem very busy and important.
ROFL. Accurate.

(And can we take a moment to think about how the second she leaves this house, she literally won't be able to come back? The next time she tries to enter Chez Gilbert, she will be physically barred, because she needs an invite. My poor, poor girl.)Oh my god you evil genius, my heart is breaking at the thought of that scene ( ... )

Oh totally. And it's not just the passion that Elena's scared of. It's the practical side of things. Bottom line, Damon's not going to let her get her own way all the time. He's not going to surrender his agency and intellect to hers the way Stefan does. And I totally get why she's afraid of that - it actually really resonates with me on a personal level, because somewhat of a control freak myself, being utterly afraid to give up my power to somebody else. It makes you afraid to love - to really, fully, no holds barred love ( ... )
