well, the recent "troop surge" hasn't chilled out the iraqi insurgency very effectively, and u.s. soldiers are looking at longer tours in the middle east, but NEVER FEAR!!! because the bush administration is considering the appointment of a WAR CZAR to oversee operations in iraq and afghanistan, and to help clean up the mess ( Read more... )

i honestly don't know if i've ever listened to uriah heep. but the name had just the right zing to it.

i can't wait till two weeks from now, when i'll be able to resume using my journal for amateur academia again, instead of amateur stand-up comedy...

also, you should click on the george orwell hyperlink. that essay is really great, and all about writing and language in a way you'd really dig (albeit from an early twentieth century fussy british kinda perspective).

i should have drawn more attention to it when i posted the link. it's a lot more interesting than anything else in my entry...

definitely look over his list of writing "rules" at the end of the essay... i've taken a few of them to heart, and the whole tone of the piece is pretty interesting as a way of making writing active (something you excel at, my friend)...

i'd also be curious how a certain kevin sheilds might react to it, but his (her?) opinions seem to currently be in pretty high demand...
