10. bridget st. john’s album thank you for is the perfect record for the month of november. it’s the album equivalent of a comfortable sweater-it’s warm, but most appropriately brought out when it’s busy getting cold outside.
i hope my little synopsis about the uninvited didn't imply that, like, it's a horror movie that's secretly an art movie or something. it's both in the best of ways. sorta like hitchcock, once again, in that the philosophical side of it is really well tailored to the movie side of it. i think you'll really dig it actually. it's also one of murdermystery's faves, if i'm not mistaken... so certainly heed his advice as well!
a lot of people i like were into the dreamers. i think part of it is that i'm a little bored with controversial sex. it never seems controversial to me. plus i kinda hate that michael pitt character, even though i loved last days.
i think part of the problem with the whole borat thing (and again, i haven't seen it) is that people in america assume that if the people parodied are white than anything is fair game. which shows a real ignorance of class relations, as far as i'm concerned (not to mention a complete indifference to what the post-soviet situation looks like, etc.). i can only imagine what gets said about latvian

i haven't had much time for lj i guessdanschankDecember 13 2006, 05:49:51 UTC
i can't totally redeem bertolucci, unfortunately. the conformist is worth a look and is visually beautiful i guess, but i LIKED it rather than LOVED it, and things irritated me about it too.
i also totally hate last tango in paris, but a lot of people swear up and down about that one too. i dunno... supposedly he made some film about incest in the late seventies that's worth a look. i'm not holdin my breath though.
haven't seen mysterious skin. i hear it's good though. i sorta like gregg araki. i liked nowhere. i hear skin is more serious though.
im VERY excited about the His Dark Materials trilogy just because Eva Green and Daniel Craig are in it. Skip and i even saw Casino Royale a second time in Mexico with subtitles in Spanish.
