Thank you.

Just the whole using Anti-Terrorist laws, and because of a mistake. And also instead of talking together like mature adults and what not, they point fingers and shit.

I know, they were in trouble and all that, but they are are working really fucking hard to fix shit and the British politicians ARE NOT HELPING. I bet they don't need Gordon Brown and this Darling guy fucking shit up for them.

I know they are trying to protect their people, but they should THINK BEFORE ACTING.

And Gordon Brown ain't helping either!!! *Is watching news*

EDIT: Heh. Sorry, I'm just annoyed and I talk too much about things. I really appreciate your comment. It means something. :)

I'm hoping things are gonna start going up now, because we can't just go down forever, right? At some time things have got to go up. *Sigh*

Maybe it's because I live in Canada, but I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. Is there a news link that can explain?

Umh, I'm not sure.

Basically all our banks are now nationalized and they had branches or what ya call in Britain.

Somehow this British politician-minister guy thought that our Government wasn't gonna guarantee what they said they would guarantee and not pay. Soooo, they fucked with our last bank which made it fall, and Gordon Brown is all if they don't pay we'll sue.

And have just made everything twice as heard because apparently they thought our politicians said they weren't gonna pay, but they were always gonna pay. They just needed a few fucking days.

Did that help?

Oh, also they used laws that are apparently mostly used as Anti-terrorist laws to seize assets.

When I heard that they'd frozen all of Landsbanki's assets in the UK, it really kind of freaked me out. I was sitting there going "There is no way they are allowed to do that. WTF?". It seems so unthinkable. We can't just seize another country's stuff!

Diplomatic crisis with another European country = DO NOT WANT. D:

I know they are trying to protect UK citizens money and everything, but it honestly scares me that they consider this to be the best course of action.

Oh, and I didn't know that they'd done it using anti-terrorism laws either. It seems to me like they use fear of terrorism to push though ridiculous laws, and then use those laws to do all kinds of things that have nothing to do with terrorism.

Apparently the "right" way would be to sue us, then use the law. But did they sue us? Noooooo. So if what someone told me, they might not even have gotten that right.

Though Gordon Brown is all we're gonna sue if they can't... and Iceland is already bankrupt, etc etc.

Yeah, umh, why don't you focus on the shit going down in your country and let us worry about our country.

Just want to yell at him; YOU ARE NOT HELPING, TWERP!

And by seizing the stuff, they totally fucked up how they were trying to save the bank and also probably affected the stuff they were trying to sell to oh, I don't know, PAY THEM.

Tell me about it. I like the U.K, I don't wanna be at odds with them again.

Well, apparently they say that it's used a lot for anti-terrorism but it can be used for other stuff. But when you call it anti-terrorism laws in the news and you don't correct them, it's anti-terror.

And we have nothing to do with terrorism, so it's idiotic to use them.

On behalf of the UK, I'm really incredibly sorry.

This whole thing is completely out of hand. Our government is in the toilet - no one believes in Gordon Brown or his cabinet anymore, so they keep making these stupid snap judgements like it's going to make us like them again. Also - Alistair Darling is a complete fuckwit, and you seriously can't trust a guy whose eyebrows are a completely different colour from his hair.

It's just weird.

I really hope this all gets figured out and both sides can be happy - but honestly, I think the whole world's economy is going to be fucked in the next decade.

I kinda figured. But it's not like our goverment is any better. *Sigh*

Well, actually they seem to be trying to work through things before pointing fingers. You can point fingers after you've gotten through it.

Just at least they are doing that, at least they are doing their jobs. Maybe it could have started earlier and what not, but at least they are doing everything they can to save shit.

But i just read a article which talked about how the headlines in British newspapers are gonna be tomorrow and can i just say that I'm hating newspapers now?

Because what's with the inciting more hate on a foreign nation? Seriously? I thought some of these were respected papers.

Daily Mail: Cold war!
The Daily Telegraph: Give us our money back
The Guardian: Lost in Iceland: ₤1billion from councils, charities and police
The Independent: Councils trapped in ₤1bn black hole

Some of those are not so bad, but some are very wtf? and I probably taking it was too personally but this whole thing makes me want to cry a little.

The Daily Mail is an evil, evil newspaper. Seriously. If you pick up any copy, there will be thinly veiled homophobic, racist and anti-anything-that-isn't-1950s-values references. It's also stuffed full of conspiracy theories and hearsay disguised as news. Funny read. Ignore.

The Daily Telegraph is very, very conservative, so take their's with a pinch of salt.

The Guardian is very liberal, but a large majority of it's readers are Labour supporters - so they tend to side with the government.

The Independent is quite touchy-feely - lots of stories about the environment, and generally critical of the government. Their headline probably refers to the stupidity of what the government has done, so don't worry.

Also - what's with the inciting more hate on a foreign nation. Honey, I'm incredibly ashamed to say this - but xenophobia is a national pastime. Anything we (UK) can blame on someone else, we do.

Again, really sorry.

What i heard on BBC World service is that the councils were just going by banks that the Goverment told them to use. Apparently they can't put all their money in one bank, so they have to spread it and they have this list of approved banks.

So, they were just going with the rules their goverment set them. And it's not like they lost all their money, and they had every intention of paying the money back.

But yeah, with some of those headlines I was like that can not be a seriously serious unbiased blah de blah.

The Xenophobia sucks, really sucks. :(

It's not your fault. But thanks. :)
