The Outsiders continues to be the best. Ep 6 ramblings

Jun 26, 2007 00:19

Ohhhhh.

OHHHHHHHHH.

The Outsiders episode 6 is killing me. In a good way. How come this drama just gets better and better? There is hurt/comfort and amazing OTP stuff and imaginary pianos, and hints of future damnation for the best of motives and oh MY.

I just finished ep 7 this morning (got up early for it!) and yeah, you can feel things falling apart and disintegrating, no matter how much they try to keep it together.

I think TO has a really harsh message, in a way, doesn't it? Being young, and idealistic, and in love is not enough. Not in a world full of people out to get you or indifferent to you.

It's just...I keep rooting for the ship like mad and wishing they had never met. It's the collision course, isn't it?

ARGH.

I am too invested in these characters. A lot of twdramas are gloriously crack, but this is just rarely, seriously good.

I wonder what a kdrama or jdrama remake of this would be like

I don't know if it would work, actually. Admittedly, I am biased, because jdramas rarely get me as emotionally involved as k or tw dramas. I think TO has a lightness of touch I don't see in a lot of other dramas. Hmmm.

The odd thing is, the fact that Taiwanese dramas are often more low budget than their Korean and Japanese counterparts, really works for this (like it did for Mars). It gives this story, set in the poor area, a certain grittiness.

a very Greek tragedy sort of vibe to it,

There is this inevitability to it and you can't look away.

geez....outsiders is very mar-ish to me...expect with one major diff(but I do not know if you know the ending so I won't divulge yet:P). Did you notice the secondary female is A LOT like Megan Lai's character from Mars. She has a crush on the male lead, threatens the female lead and eventually settles for the secondary male lead, becomes BFF with female lead and helps her out:P
Just my thought:P

I love the secondary female lead. Heeee. She is awesome.

And yeah, it has quiet girl and loud, violent boy, but YY is sheltered, unlike QL. Of course, also TO is sad and not hopeful, too :(

Why do I get the feeling that this is going to be something that will cut me off at the knees and leave me helplessly flailing and beating my chest in front of my computer?! ahh...must watch...must watch...

btw, i saw dylan kuo is a happy b-day video message to joe cheng last week...he is looking mighty fine having filled out a bit more with age...

It is totally amazing and I highyl recommend. It's not draggy at all, either, which is shocking.

Mmmm. Dylan Kuo. I space out just staring at him, I admit. He needs to be in something!
