Angsty wild boys: Magic Ring and Sang-Doo. Our angst is hotter than yours

Nov 08, 2006 15:41

I am currently watching Sang-Doo, Let’s Go to School (Korean dorama with Rain) and Magic Ring (Taiwanese dorama with Joe Cheng).

I would classify both of them as entertaining but not great. Of the two, Sang-Doo is superior (though considering I am 10 eps into SD and only one into MR, this can change), with tighter script and less OTT acting. But ( Read more... )

Oh, you meta-posts. I am reading it like there is no tomorrow in the middel of the night and I have a conviction I must watch "Magic Ring" now. :)

I am glad someone reads them. When I get no replies I get all 'awwww, I slaved all day over the hot computer and no one read them :P' irrational reaction.

My MR DVDs are region free so if you can find a cheap copy on ebay, it might be worth it. I don't know if I'd be reccing it to you if I didn't know you like Joe Cheng because this, while enjoyable, is hardly a masterpiece, but I am a shallow JC fangirl and I am very sold on the series that makes JC angst and brood, and look hot in suits and grin boyishly. And I think that might be a factor for you too :P

Also, the plot is so rife with possibilities for guilt and angst and mushiness.

The first ep is available subbed on d-addicts somewhere, so I rec dling it just to see if it's something you'd like. Though I think the torrent for that would take days as I doubt it's getting dl very often.

Most def. I think the "suit" factor could heave been enough, but with the added broodiness - YAY! But - He doesn't have any strange long-hair?? ( Just to make myself prepared).

I saw it on e-bay , but hesitated up to now. I think I am ready. :)

And YESSSSS! Your met-posts are excellent!!!

His hair isn't too bad (except in the credits which are dreadful).

Sang Doo.

Contrary to you, I found this drama to be the most enjoyable as a whole, out of all Rain's dramas. Yes I agree that Rain's acting has yet to mature, but I really enjoyed the chemistry he has with Bori (am a sucker for cute little kids). ALTK was great but the angst was just too much for me (ALTK is being aired right now in Indonesia btw! I think it's to "prepare" for his upcoming tour here next year!). As for Full House - well it's fun but at times I just bit my tounge when the YJ & JE bickered while they should be hugging each other (and not to mention the ending kiss - wtf????).

So I think perhaps I was less critical on Rain's acting and rather concentrated on enjoying the plot ^o^

OMG, icon!

For some reason, even though I like SD, it's failing to truly grab me (of course, it could be because by the time I get home at night I am exhausted. And I've been watching a lot of jdorama lately which moves at a faster pace). I don't know why that is. I am not big on children heavy stories, so I think this might have something to do with it. ALtK made me bawl and bawl but I think it's amazing and FH is just such a great pick-me up. SD I like but it doesn't inspire same degree of nuttiness.
