yay that you've finally reached the beginnings of haleb & spoby, THE 2 best & my most fave couples on this show... eMaya has its moments, & i find ezria just bland, i think the prob is that i don't find the ezra-aria connection believable, like, he doesn't really know her or her him, not facts but about the person.. when one or both parts of the OTP is/are angsty/broody/slightly dysfunctional, the instant connection seems a lot more believable, but these 2 are very normal characters, so i think they should've let the connection build up in atleast 4-5 meetings/dates prior to the revelation of ezra as the teacher, then i could've bought why these 2 are willing to fight for their 'relationship'... but after just 1 make-out session, they are fighting tooth and nail to be together? somehow, outside of asian dramas, it doesn't seem believable to me... else they could've shown after the reveal, the 2 trying to be indifferent to each other, playing cool, being with people their age, but their paths still cross & the attraction still sizzles ( ... )

I think the thing is ezria is that they had to make it very 'wholesome' because otherwise the whole teacher-student thing would be ick, so there is not much internal dramatic tension there, between them - neither one is a basketcase, or close to it, haunted by demons, etc etc. Which I like a bit of as part of a mix - I think spoby is going to be majorly drama (I have a radar for that sort of stuff :P), and no idea about haleb - so a bit of a functional couple is fine. I confess being more into spoby and haleb (or the possibility of them) then ezria just because I like me some issues, but I do like ezria ( ... )

yeah, alison is a fascinating character because the flashbacks bring out interesting dualities in her character... was she a total sociopath to whom the liars were her minions/sidekicks or did she truly care abt them? flashbacks point to both... & the liars, by their own admission & again through the flashbacks, were not close TO each other, rather they were al just friends of alison, & alison seems to have liked aria the best, been most tender with emily, most protective of hannah & most cautious with spencer... so its not like the girls had other besties to get distracted with.. yet they never found her actions suspicious or delved into/spied on her to find out hat she was up to? not even sharp, suspicious spencer??? atleast i can buy that alison could keep hannah in check with her putdowns based on her insecurities, keep emily starry-eyed with her by emotionally manipulating, and aria just never dared question alison anyway, but spencer? how did she manage to keep spencer not sniffing around ( ... )

I think when you are 16, you often don't think things through and it's easy to follow a charismatic leader (re: Spencer - she is horribly insecure and craves parental approval. I bet Alison got to her that way). A lot of sociopaths are very charismatic and you add it all together and you get the PLL situation.

Without her influence, they are so much better as human beings and are allowed to grow up and change.
