Dream High ep 11 - get off the emo train, emo boy!

Feb 11, 2011 07:51

As you could tell by the fact that I haven't posted about it until now, it took me a couple of days to get to Dream High ep 11. And yes, while I had a busy week, I had time to fit in eps of other dramas, so it wasn't really due to my schedule ( Read more... )

Well, from most of the comments I saw at soompi his emo was 98% about going deaf which apparently he was told was an incurable condition. :(

That's what second opinions from other doctors are for :)

I'm not a huge fan of the emo either (hopefully it doesn't stick around for a bunch of episodes) but I can understand it ( ... )

That makes sense. The thing is, it makes sense in character why he goes like this, it's just a behavior I find irritating no matter what.

I am sorry for him about his hearing loss, because he's just starting to get in touch with his musical talent and being told that he will lose his hearing permanently, even a normal person will go nuts.

However... I cannot pity him about being indirectly rejected by Hyemi. And what's with the comment that HM betrayed him, doesn't deserve the godly Samdong blah blah? He's the one who keep on denying the fact that HM likes JG, even going as far as stopping HM to tell him that. Not to mention his 'territorial marking' when JG returned to Korea in episode 9 (borderline creepy, imo).

Teenagers... they haven't heard of 2nd opinion? Sigh... If a doctor tells you that you are going deaf permanently (or any life threatening condition), wouldn't you get a second opinion, or find out another alternative? Emo teenagers and their omg-my-world-is-ending-i-gonna-wallow-in-self-pity-now. What Samdong need is not HM, but an adult like Teacher Kang because that is what he will advise.

Exactly. Word word word.

Yes, yes, yes.

Especially to SD in regard to HM & JG. The creepy territorial marking, hell yeah. But elsewhere I am jumped on, so it's a welcome relief to find others who have a more mature view of the dynamics between SD, HM, and JG. And normally I don't go around passing judgment - this is mature, healthy, etc. etc. etc. But this time, I will stake a position and say that the idea that Hyemi owes Samdong undying devotion or is an ungrateful wench is sheer immature bunk. It's classic possessive irrational second lead behavior to claim any such right and an incredibly unhealthy attitude to cultivate in any real life relationship.

My feelings exactly! But then, that didn't come as a surprise I guess. :)

If there's anything I detest more than emo wallowing I don't know. Yeah, teens are prone for that sort of behaviour but not being one it's highly irritating. Though some adults seem to have that tendency too. Have a good cry and then move on, that's my take on times when life gives you kick in the shins. Wallowing is actually counter productive. I mean, when times are tough wouldn't it be best to turn to those who care for some help and sympathy?

Gosh, I hope SD snaps out of it asap.

I wouldn't have minded his emo so much...if he hadn't been so angry about everything.

Yup. The older I get, the less patient I get with wallowing.

You know what might help with the hearing issues? Going to the doctor!

I thought he did? And was given pain killers and told there was nothing else to be done?

I didn't feel he was nearly as upset about Hye Mi as he was about the hearing. It kind of reminds me of Orange Days - the girl in that working through her hearing loss, too. Though I have high hopes for Sam Dong recovering.

But then get a second opinion.

And in any event, self-pity is unattractive and so is taking out your emo on others.

He didn't go to the doctor until veeeeeerrrry late. Well after the symptoms manifested.

And yes, second opinions do matter.

Emo by itself is absolutely yawn... Emo grounded anger projected at others? Makes me want to whack the kid, drag him to witness some real trauma, then see if he dares pity himself. (Not that I'm heartless - losing one's hearing is devastating but misdirected emo violence? Unacceptable.)
