While away, I checked out the Japanese drama Ice World (Kouri no Sekai/Koori no Sekai) starring Matsushima Nanako (love her to bits) and Takenouchi Yutaka (haven't seen him in anything but he is HOT).

Yasuko to Kenji. That was only from summer though, not that much earlier this year.

I've yet to see Koori no Sekai but it's on the list.

Takenouchi Yutaka (haven't seen him in anything but he is HOT).
If you have seen Long Vacation he plays Minami's younger brother.

As for the drama, I htink it is Yasuko to Kenji. It started out hilarious but I think I didn't finish it.
Now if you want a well-written, well-acted drama, please watch Bara no Hanaya. So yeah it has a SMAP member in it, but Katori Shingo's acting is brilliant here. And it is a great drama about guilt, revenge, being too good, conning and saying sorry, and loss.

I am one of 3 people who didn't like LV so didn't last past ep 3. I remember the brother very vaguely :)

Also, what was that drama some people on my flist liked earlier in the year? Something about a high school girl with an overprotective older brother? Who is a manga artist? I think?

Yasuko to Kenji. It started okay, but got repetitive very fast. I did finish it, but it was a struggle. I wouldn't really recommend it.

If you want something cute, try Oh! My Girl!! from this season's jdramas. Hayami Mokomichi (Night in Zettai Kareshi) plays a struggling young journalist who dreams of writing a bestselling cell phone novel. His half-sister suddenly dumps her daughter who is a famous child actress (a bit spoilt, but still cute) of whose existance he had no idea on him and does a vanishing act. Lots emotionally wringing cuteness follows :).

It's also short, since they shortened it into just 8 episodes of which 6 have already been subbed (here or at d-addicts). The subs have been appearing very regularly, so I'm sure the rest will get subbed very promptly as well.

Honestly, i really liked Yasuko to Kenji. it's mindless fluff, but it's really cute. and i still cackle to myself at Kenji's angry faces and the whole thing with the table.
