Mother's Day Weekend

May 13, 2008 12:23

This was technically my first Mother's Day. It's fun to think that I'm someone's mother, even though I don't know this person growing inside me yet.

This weekend turned out to be very interesting and kind of scary because ( my dad had to go to the emergency room )

I hope that things get better for your Dad. The magnesium citrate really works wonders.

Has he looked into getting dentures? If cost is the issue, he could see about going to a denturist (I'm not sure if they have them CA). A good pair of dentures can do wonders for a persons diet.

From what my mom told me, his roots are still in there, and because of his heart problems, he hasn't gone to get all of the roots and any teeth still in there taken out. His dad died of a heart attack after getting his teeth pulled.

Maybe there's something that can be done in that realm. I hope so.

Well, if the roots are still in there then his body's fighting off a constant infection. It'll be better for his system if he can get those out. There's a definite link between heart disease and gum disease. I have several medically compromised patients who've had their teeth extracted in the operating room of a hospital by an oral surgeon.

I think that the hardest thing would be to get over the fear of the procedure. Especially if he lost his Dad that way.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear about your dramatic Mother's Day. We'll be praying for your Dad and his health. It's really tough when people you love don't want to take care of themselves. There's not much you can really do in the end except stay in touch so that when they do decide they do want help they won't end up not being able to get it. I hope your Dad will realize that his health effects the entire family and that he decides to make it a priority.

On a lighter note, just think next year you'll be on the receiving end come Mother's Day! Keep up the great pregnancy posts.

Thank you for your prayers and wishes, James. I hope Dad gets better soon.

We totally missed your birthday! I was thinking that maybe we should have called, but with all the drama, we forgot to. I hope it was good.
