Oh look, a post!

It's time for me to admit to myself that posting is a habit, and like all habits, it needs active reinforcement. Thinking "oh, hey, I should post about X" and then not doing it is not active reinforcement. And a busy work schedule is not an excuse, since I always have a busy work schedule ( Read more... )

Also, this episode is basically about a TOILET MONSTER.

If you make it to S8 (or maybe S9, I can't remember), there's an episode about a butt genie. I...can't really explain it further.

And wow, he does not like Scully

Fanfic assures me that this is because of the massive crush he has on Mulder.

I'm glad you're watching S2! There are some really good episodes on the horizon.

The last time I tried to do a rewatch of Angel S3, I did give up halfway through. I find that whole period around Dad and Provider to be deadly.

I tried once with the Dorothy Dunnett books too, and I don't think I made it past the first 100 pages.

Um, I'm not sorry to say I missed this. And really happy I bailed after David did. O_o

Should we warn her about the vampire episode? Not the good one, the one coming up. ;)

OMG! Now I remember someone telling me about the butt genie during an extended rant about the later seasons. (Also I'm still waiting to find out what Mulder Salad is! Perhaps less "waiting" than "dreading.")

On Angel, I think we're almost through the doldrums and into the part of the season where stuff starts moving again. I hope. It really helps to watch and snark with other people.

I'm beginning to think I was so wrapped up into Buffy by the time Season 3 of Angel rolled around that I really wasn't paying much attention the badness and WTF? I just don't recall it being this painful before. And no matter how much I disagreed with it, I thought there had been some setup for Angel and Cordy, but.....no. At least with Gunn and Fred I can rationalize they had very limited social lives and found each other cute and endearing and it could explain a sudden relationship developing. I wonder if Joss, having so many couples on Buffy, felt he had to have them on Angel and forced the issue? But Angel needed a friend and Cordy was doing an awesome job of being that friend before it all got shot to hell.

I had problems with the Fairly Legal pilot. At times, I found Kate abrasive and annoying, especially in regards tio the 'wicked witch'. The having a drink with her father's ashes scene was creepy. Plus, I'm super-sensitive to shows centered around lawyers and things were screaming WRONG to me ( ... )

I watched Season 3 on DVD the first time, and I blew through it pretty fast, which I think helped a LOT. It seems like it would be much better as a blur. And I knew about Angel/Cordy, but was shocked even then at how little sense it made. (Fred/Gunn I can also see, and probably would have liked better were it not for the Wesley point on the triangle. And the pancake kisses.)

But Angel needed a friend and Cordy was doing an awesome job of being that friend before it all got shot to hell.

Their friendship was so wonderful; he gave her purpose, and she kept him real. The fact that it wasn't romantic was part of what was lovely about it. And Cordy got to have her life; once she became the Love Object, that was done. Bleah.

"Fairly Legal" (aka "Facing Kate") is premiering on Thursday at 10pm on USA network. The pilot filmed here in January 2010; the series is set here - although the series ultimately based in Vancouver, they have returned for frequent filming throughout the making of the series, and if the series is a ( ... )

RE Fairly Legal. I watched Covert Affairs, mostly as a guilty pleasure/mindless TV and mostly didn't hate it. But Fairly Legal is so much better IMO, at least going on 1 ep so far. It helps that Saran Shahi can act compared to Piper Perabo! Bummer about the location shooting being limited to the pilot mostly. That's probably why I put up with CA, because they put some effort into the exteriors (unlike NCIS where the DC is so pastede on yay it's ridiculous).

(Hmm I'm feeling a bit nervous about what's to come on Angel... Heh)

Bones is another serious offender in that category.

Sarah Shahi can act, and I also liked that she has a relationship with her step-mother that is prickly, for a lot of obvious reasons, without being catfighty, and that they still work together. I also liked the assistant, who was something of an anti-stereotype.

Angel is going to get better soon--I promise!
