I'm very grumpy about Ghana's loss. I thought I was prepared to see them lose, but I didn't want it to happen this way. Poor Asamoah Gyan! Sigh.
You did miss something with the Netherlands-Brazil match. Netherlands were totally outplayed in the first half and were only saved from a trouncing by their goalkeeper. And once Brazil made that mistake, they completely imploded. The match had been rather brutal from the start and the referee had to calm players down, but once Brazil stopped dominating things, it got dirty (not only on the Brazilian side, tbh. I have a blind spot where the Dutch are concerned, but they weren't exactly angels.) It was thrilling! Not exactly the most beautiful match I've ever seen, but it stayed suspenseful until the very last minute.
I saw some recaps and I can't remember seeing a team completely fall apart after a setback quite like that. Crazy! And then today Germany just wiped the field with Argentina, which was in some ways even crazier.
Yes, Germany-Argentina was crazy. (Since it's a Saturday, I suppose you were able to watch it?)
I have to say, I didn't see that coming. I knew that Germany had a good team this year, but I didn't expect Argentina to be so out of it for almost the whole match. Weird. But Germany played beautifully, and unlike Netherlands-Brazil, it wasn't a dirty match, which is nice.
I caught the end, again. Unfortunately, the early games start really early in my time zone. I work from home on Fridays so I was able to see the every agonizing minute of the Uruguay/Ghana match.
I think there's a pretty good chance of a Netherlands/Germany match-up in the final. That would be quite a game.
