Alright, I'm generally a lurker here in LJ-land and your LJ in particular, but I was curious about this Cake Chalet I had never heard of. And I quote...
Our unique Cake-in-a-Bag mixes offer 93 luscious cake flavors and 38 fabulous frostings, all of which are made from the finest dehydrated and powdered ingredients.
The bolding is mine. I'm just going to go back to my little scratch bakery, finish my handmade by me herb bread, cappuccino muffins and chocolate cake doughnuts, take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven and cry a little. :D
I hope your rocky road cake is good. Honestly, I do.
I often bake from scratch too. But I also work very long days, and doing so during the week is very difficult for me. I have a couple of wonderful local bakeries, too, but dropping $20-$30 on one of their cakes isn't always feasible. So I'm willing to try out a good-quality mix.
(Alas, the cake was tough, but I think that was because my mixer was too powerful and I overmixed it.)
Oh it's not the package itself I denigrate, it's the "powdered and dehydrated" that I object to. And then throw "finest" into the sentence and I have the urge to bash my head against aa wall.
