Earth is where you make it

I had to watch this episode again before I could write about it, because--!!!!! And that required being indoors, which I tried to do as little as possible this weekend. We're having the most gorgeous run of weather right now.

like your observations on B5 and the pairings of cast members that in S1 you would never have imagined. S4 is a great one as many threads become strands.,

I've always enjoyed the friendship between Garibaldi and G'Kar, and it was so neat that it became this strong. Also, G'Kar's assumption that Daffy Duck was Garibaldi's household god, and Zack Allen's admission that there was probably some truth to that, cracked me up.

Dee's suicide didn't ping with me until she kissed Lee goodnight and didn't invite him in for more. That seemed odd to me and then as she started talking about herself as little girl my feeling of dread only grew stronger.

Kandyse talked to family members of suicide victims and found one common thread was that none of them saw the suicide coming. And Ron said, in the podcast, Kandyse did a great job of not giving anything away. We weren't supposed to see it coming and they did a great job of that.

Watching it the second time, you really could see where she made the decision, and how all of her behavior after that was about shaping her last moments, but the first time through, it wasn't obvious at all. I think she played it really well, and wish I hadn't been conditioned by the flubbed Lee/Dee relationship to think the show was having problems instead of realizing something was going on.

but there's something about Lorien that seems almost... elemental.

What a perfect word to use. As always, I love your thoughts on my beloved old show.

When he first appeared, I had this crazy idea that he was some kind of original creation figure in the universe, a dark shadow-affiliated yang to the yin that created the ancient races like the Vorlons. As it turns out (a) I was horribly, horribly wrong about some of that!, and (b) television is rarely as operatic as my brain.
