Dude, where's my weekend?

Feb 29, 2008 15:13

One of these days, laurashapiro is going to regret volunteering to be my culinary guinea pig. Fortunately, although there was some coughing and eye watering and we had to open a window, last night was not that time. I had a bottle of Szechuan peppercorns that I bought when I had $10 left on a gift card at Williams Sonoma after Christmas (Penzey's has them ( Read more... )

Ambassador Kosh apparently just likes cryptic sayings.

You just said a mouthful, there. Hee!

Don't forget the Vorlons also have a vote on the Council. It's just that Kosh abstained. He almost always abstains, but when he chooses to turn up, well, you saw the results.

I am still thinking about those yummy shrimp today. Thanks for posting the recipe!

In other news, it appears that Richard Biggs (Dr. Stephen Franklin) has had an extensive television career since Babylon 5, proving once again that there's no accounting for taste.

Also, I need to make some B5 icons.

Oh yes! Thank you. (And the Lurker's Guide did confirm that the League had one vote, so we guessed right.)

How? What? How?

I encourage you to make B5 icons so that I can take some of them!

How? What? How?

Yeah, that was my reaction, too. Maybe he got better as he went along?

And I shall try to create some B5 icons this weekend, depending on how much vidding I can stomach. Soon, anyway. Any character requests?

I don't think I've developed any real favorites yet, though I suspect that will change.

Gah, it's been such a week, and my body doesn't want to do anything but sleep--I totally forgot that I could have made it last night if I'd remembered in time. Which I didn't, and frankly I might well have passed out on your couch, so it's probably just as well. That said, salt-and-pepper anything seafood is my otp of asian dishes, so YUM. Sounds marvelous.

I don't remember much about those two episodes, except I do remember that Na'Toth is pretty awesome, and so is Ivanova.

Also, has anyone shown you the Lurkers' Guide to Bab5? It's fairly awesome: one of the ways in which it's awesome is that the episode summaries and discussions are in-depth but not spoilery for future developments. So you can follow along without worrying something will slip. It's nice to see the site is still up: I was using it back in 1996 or so!

I thought about pinging you yesterday, but then I forgot. Ah well. I have discovered that I love Szechuan peppercorns and want to pet them and call them George, and given how easy salt and pepper dishes seem to make, I see a lot of them in my future.

The Lurker's Guide seems to be a well-regarded source, since I've already gotten several pointers to it, and I've been using it to help with names. It's wonderful that it's organized in such a non-spoilery way.

It's okay: I really don't think it would have been fair for me to come. I don't like this ick, whatever I have: I don't look or sound sick (it just drains all the energy out of me), so I feel like I'm lying to people when I plead illness...

The Lurkers' Guide was the inspiration for the Snurchers' Guide to Farscape, which thinkum put together. Not quite as comprehensive, but still pretty useful.

J. Michael Straczynski (JMS) is very fair when he presents a belief system, there is reason for any one's actions not just someone acting acting foolishly to move the plot along.

I really appreciated that in this episode, because the Christian Scientists--in Space! plot could have been pretty cliche, but the parents ended up being sympathetic, and the resolution wasn't at all pat.

Thanks for the offer of the cards, but I'm not much of a collector--which is just as well, since I have very little storage space.

Its funny by looking at the cards I see occasional cast members from Arrested Development, Scrubs, and a few other shows I now watch

Richard Biggs' performances do, indeed, get better. Perhaps not that much better (it's been so long, and I suspect I remember his acting as better than it was), but he's definitely one of the ones who benefits most from Boxleitner's arrival later.

Ambassador Kosh apparently just likes cryptic sayings.

Well... except for maybe when he doesn't.

I've decided that the one thing I don't completely love about these recaps is the pace. I'm sitting here looking over the list of 100+ episodes going, "I can't wait to read comments about that one. And that one. And definitely that one..." I guess it's inevitable, since everyone always has favorite episodes of a favorite show, but with B5, well....

Laura and I both become vaguely comatose after 9pm, so it hasn't been very fast going. We're hoping to squeeze in a weekend marathon or two at some point, though.
