It didn't take much to set Jo off. It never had, girl had the temper of a pit bull that'd been beat for far too long. You beat on a dog that long and it gets mean.
You annoy Jo Harvelle for too long and she gets pissed.
So while it didn't take much to set her off, Dean had brought it down to a fine science, an art almost. His pacing, his talking, his snide remarks in her general direction, his breathing, the mere fact that he was alive... all of the above just pissed Jo right off.
And that stupid ass cocky smirk.
She'd tuned him out after a while; focusing on the papers in front of her instead of whatever annoying thing he was doing at the moment. Because it was inevitable, whatever he was doing was going to annoy her; that was just how things went between Winchesters and Harvelles.
Standing up to find herself a soda, too long spent reading the same sentence over and over and over because she was distracted had given her a headache, she had to lean back on the table to steady herself because Dean was right fucking there.
"Do you mind?" she snapped, already aggravated from the headache and his presence alone.
"Not at all," Dean smirked without moving, one hand resting on the table on either side of her.
She glared at him for a long while, eyes narrowing in irritation and annoyance. "Fine," she said eventually, her tone even and smooth, right before she kicked him hard in the shins, pulling her leg up to knee him in the groin. Dean groaned and let go of the table, freeing her to get her soda as he fell into her vacated chair.
He shoulda known better, she thought as she took a victorious drink of her Sprite. Idiot.
