Edward imagined the unlocking mechanism worked on all the doors simultaneously, especially since it always occurred immediately after that final intercom announcement

The more Ratigan thought about it, the more it infuriated him. Being vanquished thanks to Big Ben was humiliating enough, but the fact that Basil supposedly had access to resources that allowed him to perform such feats...had Basil merely been toying with Ratigan during their previous encounters? If he had been able to do things such as this, then why had Basil let Ratigan slip through his fingers so many times in the past?
Because he was just amusing himself, of course! Ratigan thought angrily to himself as he walked into what appeared to be the central hallway.

The damned halls needed a passage between them, Oliver decided. It wasn't really a large distance between the block he'd been shuffled into and this one, but in the dark, needing to be cautious of guards and other prisoners both, it was wearing. All the more so when he wasn't entirely sure of where he was going, or what might be waiting.
Nothing, so far, that seemed amiss, or at least not any more amiss than the entire situation already was. It still wasn't comforting.

The hallway outside the male block was concernedly deserted, though from some stale, lingering scents Edward could assume it hadn't continued to be so since he and Bella had left it.
Up, up the stairs, wasn't a brain-rattling puzzle, but he wasn't so sure about what room this mysterious piece of paper was to be found in. The only room he'd been in was the pharmacy, and the map he'd memorized of the institute from his first day hadn't been completed, nor had many of the room names been noted. Though he had passed by many of the second floor rooms on the way - the staff lounge, perhaps? He only had noticed the words etched on the doors, never having peeked into them ( ... )

Oh yes.
However, there was something bothering her. That message on the radio ... where the nurses hung out when they weren't watching the patients. Where could such a place like that be? She could only imagine what kind of place it would look like - couches, a table, probably, for the nurses to set their things down, maybe lockers ...
Bella froze for a moment, her feet sliding across the floor before she finally collected her footing, having almost tripped over herself as the two men in front of her moved.
It couldn't possibly be, she thought to herself as they entered yet another hallway, hoping for the best.

When she entered the hallway this time, seeing no one and having had no sign of anyone since leaving that room, Celty began to panic as she had when first awakening. Something was wrong. Something had to be really wrong! If this was a hospital, then where were the people? The nurses? Shinra The doctors!? What would she do if there wasn't anyone here? Or worse, if she found someone and they turned out to not be human?!
Her pace sped up, the door to her left going unnoticed as she went for the next door she could see, the one right in front of her. The one she prayed would finally lead her to someone!

Scary! Celty was still trembling after she'd rushed in, door closing as fast as she could manage in her wake. She now had her back to it and her hands clasped in front of her, trying to calm down. It really was just like the movies. And another pinch wasn't going to change that, whether she was dreaming or not! Two had already failed, and she couldn't deny that she'd felt something grasping at her ankle just then.
But people with blue skin coming out of books just didn't happen!
She took a deep breath, tried somewhat unsuccessfully to stop from shaking so much, and slowly turned back to the door. That man... he was still out there with that thing! Sure he'd jumped into attacking it for Celty's sake, but that didn't mean it was ok to just leave him! He wasn't Shizuo who she knew would be able to take care of himself and probably play merry-go-round while swinging the girl by her hair. Her hand reached out and she pulled the door just enough to see back into the field.

And movies or not, Celty didn't care to see anyone getting hurt because they'd tried to help her! Or... or worse!
It took a bit of shaking off her shivers before she got the courage to go back through the door and outside.

This hallway (it looked the same as the last one) contained a little more traffic, but it was still pretty empty. No one there looked like trouble, though. Morgan dropped back and turned to Guybrush again. "So what have you been up to since we talked? Interrogating inmates? Pilfering pharmaceuticals? Working on a brilliant escape plan?"

He was relieved he'd dodged a bullet with the bathroom topic, but groaning inwardly at the fact that he'd not progressed much since their last conversation... unless one counted any of the things he'd listed as progress. He considered "Not Getting on the Wrong Side of Javert's Fence" to be an accomplishment, but he had a feeling Elaine and Morgan would disagree.
