As soon as she pointed her flashlight in the direction of the stairs, she noticed him. While she normally would have found something a little funny about him carrying around a pillowcase -- probably the syringes and whatever else he needed -- like he was Santa Claus or something, she was instead too pleased to see him to pay much mind to it.

She ran up immediately, a little bit of an excitable skip in her step. Helping people did that. As much as she probably should have been grim and gloomy that people were in trouble to begin with, and as much as a part of her mind acknowledged that, she couldn't shake the pride in being useful for once. It wasn't long at all before Claire showed up at his left, and she actually looked pretty cheery (no pun intended), all things considered. It wasn't like their plan for the night was necessarily exciting, except that he could easily understand how saving people could be exhilarating. It was upsetting that it was happening, yes, but it was going to happen regardless of what they did, so they might as well try to pitch in when they could ( ... )

He didn't seem to be in quite as positive a mood, but it was good enough to keep Claire optimistic about their plan. After all, she had acknowledged herself that 'happy' was a pretty strange default reaction to this, but she had to be happy about what she could in this place, and it was the one thing keeping her from really going crazy at this point ( ... )

"Yeah, what is your room number, anyway?" Peter asked with a frown as he looked over the girl's shoulder to where she was pointing. He knew exactly where the female block was and had been there in search of the girl before (during her previous stays here), but this time around getting an exact number out of her had been like pulling teeth. Maybe he just hadn't found the right time to ask, but he was hoping he could catch her off-guard this time around ( ... )
