How many people had Jones asked to come for this basement expedition, anyway? Harvey hoped it wasn't too large of a number, and if it was, that they split up. Running around in a huge group would just be asking for trouble, and he figured he'd just duck out before getting into a huge mess like that. If they did split up, he'd have to insist on staying with Jones, since he doubted he'd know any of the other patients involved.
Then again, Jones would probably want him to stick with him. If the guy had any sense about him at all, he'd know that placing him with a bunch of idiotic kids would be a bad idea. He wasn't beyond leaving them all to rot if push came to shove.
Or that's what he tried to tell himself, but the man found himself grabbing hold of his coin and rubbing his thumb over it as he turned down the hall, taking the familiar path toward the Sun Room.
