Night 48: F1-F10 Hallway

Mar 22, 2010 17:44

This was it. This was the night she'd been working toward since she'd learned what youkai were. This was... going to fail horribly because Sheena was so damn nervous. Or so she thought it would. Yes, she'd gone over everything a couple times, but she couldn't get past the part where the fact that Yukari was, well, Yukari. Such an unpredictable ( Read more... )

Enough of this. Hokuto still felt horrible in every way, but she wasn't an invalid and wasn't about to let anyone see her looking like one. She had been stabbed in the chest, but this time she'd survived it, dammit. As soon as the doors unlocked, she got out of her wheelchair and walked to the closet. She was unsteady enough so she had to sit down to get dressed, but it wasn't in the chair.

Tonight wasn't going to be the usual... date, so she dressed for warmth--stirrup pants, long-sleeved blouse, and sundress. She was afraid she wouldn't be very steady on her feet, but that didn't stop her from putting on her shoes; the heel wasn't nearly high enough to trip her up.

She wasn't alone here, and she wasn't going to let herself fall any deeper into depression if she could possibly help it.

Yuffie had spent a pleasantly boring-as opposed to excitingly argumentative-dinner shift completely ignoring her erstwhile roomie. Good times! But now, she had a dilemma.

Pants, or shorts?

No, seriously, this was important. Her butt was way too cute to turn blue or fall off in the throes of hypothermia. The weather outside was dismal, absolutely miserable; it heralded the kind of cold, icktastic rain that you'd expect to fall around Midgar or Junon. Wutaian rain was (usually) humid and therefore really quite awesome (only, yeah, not really). Leviathan's tears, they called it. Yuffie'd never got around to deciding if that meant snow was supposed to be his dandruff.

Alright, back to business, Yuffie told herself. Funny as it'd be, she really couldn't go exploring in nothing but undies. … Well, actually, she was already wearing everything but the pants-slash-shorts. But still! Giving her head a quick toss to get the trails of her headband back over her shoulder, Yuffie closed her eyes and grabbed at random ( ... )

Once the doors opened, Teresa secured the large metal piece across her back and left. She had a mission tonight. She did not know who the two she was meeting were. Hopefully, they would be able to pick her out. It wasn't like she was hard to notice.

For once, Yukari had not fallen asleep after eating dinner. Though she'd never admit it, anticipation for what was coming tonight had her restless, unable to sit still for long. She'd put on the shirt and jacket, and even the tie was tied nicely - she'd worry about the implications of retaining Violet's muscle-memory later. Of course, she couldn't go out in just that, so after some debate, she'd gone with the white capris obtained from the Doyleton trip and her own shoes. It didn't match perfectly, but it blended well enough. Lastly, of course, was her ever-present hat and a few loose ribbons tied into her hair.

Done with that, the youkai was left prowling about her room as she waited for night to fall. Ah, she was looking forwards to this. So as it was, she was alert and listening as soon as the doctor finished his announcements. Soon, she heard footsteps outside her room. Was it her? Whoever it was walked away... before coming back again. Yukari smiled and the grumbling only confirmed her suspicions.

When the poor girl finally ( ... )

The door opened far, far faster than Sheena had expected. Had Yukari been laying in wait for her? Despite how potentially flattering and creepy that implication was, Sheena forgot about it at the sight of the youkai. White. There was a lot of white and that white... was not purple. And it looked... really good.

"Uh...hi," she finally got out after staring at the youkai for a bit. "You look, uh, really nice."

Perhaps her smile turned up at the corners into a smirk, perhaps not. In either case, her eyes did rove up and down Sheena's body once; the girl might have been just wearing her usual ninja outfit, but that didn't make it any less nice to look at.

"And you're looking as beautiful as ever," the youkai replied when her eyes came back to Sheena's. She held out a hand for the girl to take. "Shall we be going?"

Sheena was not a stranger to people looking her over like Yukari was. In fact, she was quite familiar with it and usually had a bad reaction to it. Usually. But there was a different quality to the youkai's gaze than she was used to. And then Yukari called her beautiful.

Ducking her head a little as she dropped her gaze, color tinged Sheena's cheeks and she lightly bit her bottom lip. Oh, Yukari was still talking to her.

"Ah, yeah," Sheena replied, her eyes on the youkai's hand as she wrapped her fingers about it. A few more pounding heartbeats and she led the way.

Dinner had managed to pass in the usual silence and Sakura was careful about getting her things gathered up and ready for the night. She changed quickly, not wanting to waste any time once she was sure the nurses wouldn't be back and checking in on them. She tucked her weapons away, scalpels and razors in the pouch usually reserved for shuriken and kunai, and made sure to tuck the hatchet at her waist. Medical supplies she'd managed to sort through and only packed what was necessary. Most injuries she ought to be able to treat with her own chakra. The bandages and other supplies would be supplementary to that ( ... )
