Night 47: M41-M50 Hallway

Feb 10, 2010 17:16

McCoy listened to that crackling intercom with some concern. A "Mr. Radio?", "P.A.I.L.?" Coupled along with the smugness and that cackling, he had to say it sounded like this head Doctor had gone off the deep end himself long ago. Somehow it made sense. Only a mad man could conjure up all this ( Read more... )

So. Kibitoshin’s inventory for tonight was as follows:

- One box of powder
- One large box of candles
- A packet of dishes
- Flashlight

And all of it, except for the flashlight, was supposed to go to Franziska, ASAP.

… hmm. Something still didn’t seem right, not even with all of it out on his desk like the equipment for some sort of strange, kitchen-based experiment. No matter how long he looked at it he still couldn’t fight the feeling that something was missing somehow. With a sigh, Kibitoshin sat down to ponder on the matter some, and-

“Ah-!!”

Leaping back up from the chair and wincing, he immediately fished the boxcutter out of his back pocket and placed it gingerly into the larger box. Oops. Well, he wasn’t going to be sitting down in a while…

A blink, and a crackle like dry leaves and static, and the undeniable groan of something that might have been alive. These were the first sensations, the knowledge of unknowing signifying a loss in time. All of this was understood. When, then, he could wonder. He remembered... the last shift. The beginning of it anyway. None were around, and then a girl ( ... )

Sharing a room with Lunge wasn't so bad when neither of them exchanged any words with each other. Harvey wasn't sure if that was because the man was just that much of a recluse, or if he was somehow studying him even as they declined to speak to each other. His roommate had apparently spoken with Jones at least once, which meant he was capable of human interaction. Just... apparently not with him ( ... )

622 rounded the final corner to Commander Hayes' hall, stopping just past the intersection and scanning the area. No sign of Xigbar yet. He supposed he'd have to wait again. Hopefully not for long, although he had no real clue what else he was going to be doing tonight.

He sighed, standing at rest but still alert, keeping watch for hostiles and Xigbar.

((From here.))

Despite how the previous exchange had worked out, Xigbar was far from a hostile, especially not to the trooper. Quite the contrary, with how his plans for the night were going, he was in quite the chipper mood, a grin on his face as he strolled down the hallway. He was alert for problems, sure, but that didn't mean he had to have a long face as he moved along.

Needless to say, he caught sight of the trooper sooner rather than later, and so he waved jauntily as he moved along. "There you are! Hope you haven't been waitin' for long?"

622 straightened up a little bit more (if that was even possible) when he saw someone coming towards him, but... once he realized who it was, he decided not to bother. Frankly, it wasn't worth the extra effort of being formal if he was just going to get teased for it.

"A few minutes," he replied, taking the rifle off his back and holding it out to Xigbar. "Not as bad as standing guard duty."

Heh, it had only taken a single day to get the soldier to loosen up a bit? Progress was being made at last! Xigbar took the rifle easily, shrugging at the response. He had places to be, as did the soldier he was sure, but he still wanted to stick around at least a little bit. "Heh, guess you would be a little more used to stickin' around places. Me, I'm off to go have some fun, so don't get yourself eaten while I'm gone, dude."

Claude had heard a lot of announcements since the day he first woke up in Landel's, but, aside from those horrid sounds he'd listened to that night the I.R.I.S. system went crazy, none of them made his stomach turn as much as that one had. It was hard to pin-point why, exactly, but he had a feeling it had to do with that grotesque noise that had responded when Landel spoke to Nurse Lydia. Did most of the staff here turn into monsters against their will or something ( ... )
