( from
here. )There was the stairwell. Kairi couldn't help but smile to herself as she rounded the corner and spotted the familiar hallway, still shrouded in darkness like she remembered it. She could see down the hallway and slightly into the Sun Room from where she was standing, and she lowered her flashlight, not wanting whatever it was that

As he'd figured, the main hallway had people out already, and the first too-bright flicker of light completely wrecked any nightvision Raphael had up until then. Growling under his breath about stupid turtle luck, he dug out his own flashlight and flicked it on, figuring he could lose it again once he'd gotten upstairs where it was hopefully quieter.
Even that wasn't much of a distraction from what else had been weighing on his mind thus far, however. If Pinky was right, if it took longer than a few days or weeks to escape, if it was more like months and months or longer without any sign of his family, not knowing if they'd managed to survive the assault on the lair or not...
How could Raphael be expected to keep going like that? He'd been telling himself since he got here that he'd be out in a few days, that he'd find a way, come hell or high water, to get back home to his family. But if Pinky was right and he was wrong ( ... )

Did a greater number of people mean Mihai was heading in the proper direction? Certainly this hallway held the largest group he'd seen so far during the trip. Mihai could only assume that the majority of the patients would be venturing out, so he took it as a good sign. Unfortunately, the luck ended there, as none of the batches seemed to be going in any particular direction just yet. Not in much of a mood to simply stand around, Mihai at first tried to shine his light one way, then another. No good: the beam simply wasn't bright enough to distinguish anything useful in the darkness. He'd just have to guess, yet again.

Despite the fact that she was not the best runner, Bella was pretty proud of herself, especially because she was running in the (near) darkness. Most of the time the darkness made her balance even worse, but thanks to the help of her flashlight - and the ones around her - she could still see a little better.
Good thing too, because she most certainly was not in the mood to fall flat on her face again.

The main hallway, and about time. The various collection of flashlights meant there were more people around here, which wasn't really a surprise. From what he could see in the darkness, there wasn't anyone of too much interest.
Pausing only the slightest bit to light a cigarette, he began heading into the direction of the doctor offices.

If the assumption that this wasn't a kidnapping held, then her course was clear. Lana stepped out into the hall and addressed the crowd as a whole.
"Hello?" Her voice rang out clearly, more order than question. "Who's there?"

As he'd guessed, Harvey reached the stairs without a hitch and found that there was a large amount of patients gathered in this area. Good. He quickly scanned over them, noting a few groups of people who had already met up with each other, and a ton of kids who were on their own. He wasn't interested in that, seeing how they would probably be more of a burden than a help. While Tim was proof that even teenagers could be capable, that didn't mean Harvey wanted to deal with someone who had an attitude.
Then again, Jason was probably pushing twenty and he still acted like a brat most of the time ( ... )

An order which was disturbed again by the man who stepped out of the shadows. Half the skin on his face appeared to be missing; had she been hasty in dismissing the possibility of natural disaster? Terrorism? He seemed unconcerned; his voice was stern but not the artificial bravado of shock, so she had to assume it wasn't quite as urgent as it seemed. A slight twitch of her fingers as she resisted the urge to run her hands over her own, uninjured cheek was the only reaction she could not suppress.
"What happened? Did the San Andreas finally let go, but refrained from tossing us all into the Pacific? Or a bomb? Rolling blackouts?" Where are we? came logically next, followed by Where's my sister?, but showing the depths of her ignorance wasn't the best opening move. Information had to be a two-way street ( ... )

San Andreas. She was from the West Coast, then. He filed the information away, even though it probably wouldn't matter much here. Wherever here even wasThat final question was enough to get a kneejerk reaction out of him, though. "No," he said with a shake of his head. This was how he was, and no medical attention was going to be able to heal the damage that had been done to him. It was as simple as that, and he seriously hoped the stranger would leave it alone ( ... )
