Shinji hesitated at the threshold and after a moment of horrific indecision and fear he forced himself to take the step out of his room and into dim and darkened hallway. It was all strange again. Sanae shrugged on his coat anyway when the intercom message was through, even though Alvin had never gotten back to him. So he wouldn't have company. That was alright; he could work without a Partner once in a while, even if it meant he'd have to watch his back more. He could also try to tail another group of patients into one of the supply closets too if he wanted some protection - better than nothing, maybe. There was still plenty of danger out there...

Ah, but what was progress without risk?

Stuffing the last bit of cake into his mouth, Sanae gave a short wave to Jiraiya and ducked out into the hallway, turning on his flashlight as he did so.

Roxas woke up knowing that he had missed the majority of the day - it was quite a Luxord-like epiphany, really. He was so used to just... falling asleep and not waking up for so long that he was pretty used to feeling how long he'd been out. Except when it was a few weeks; at that point, it all blurred together. (There weren't any seashells by his pillow.)

Of course, it helped that the room was completely pitch black and empty. Apparently he'd slept through dinner and his roommate had gotten tired of looking at his comatose body, because the room was empty; at least, there hadn't been any response when he'd asked, "Neku?"

Too bad he didn't remember what he'd done with the flashlight from last night. Sliding his hand under the pillow revealed nothing. He found the edge with a few more movements, sliding his bottom to the edge of the bed and touching the floor tentatively with a naked toe. He was imbued with the power of light, so maybe ( ... )

All the stress must have been taking its toll on Suzaku, as he slept straight through dinner. It wasn't like he had to be sociable or anything, after all, since his nurse had informed him that his roommate had been released. Whatever that meant. Suzaku didn't really want to contemplate the kid being killed or taken off for creepy experiments or anything like that, but it was the most likely explanation ( ... )

By all appearances he'd seem almost strangely casual for his surroundings, but the more aware patients would see the jounin was on guard, his natural eye taking in everything he could in the darkness. Haine was gonna be pissed. Maybe Alle and Alkaid wouldn't kill eachother (they hadn't during the day, so maybe he was overreacting) but this was just adding another volatile personality to the mix after he complained some about Badou's chronic lateness ( ... )
