Shinji hesitated at the threshold and after a moment of horrific indecision and fear he forced himself to take the step out of his room and into dim and darkened hallway. It was all strange again. The people, the appearance of this hallway - so much for hoping that last night might have been a fluke. With a start, he realized he still didn't know

Landel was surprised about something, and it sounded like it had to do with Doyle's purported appearance a few nights earlier. L's hunch went in that direction, but without evidence, and without knowing more about Landel himself, he wasn't confident in the permanent exclusion of other options; he didn't feel that his factual basis was strong enough to ensure an accurate interpretation.
What is it that he can't accept... and why is he so angry? His plans, his expectations... a loss of control... what is it? Something to think about, but he had an appointment to keep ( ... )

Then again, neither was Grell. The guy was clever - you'd have to be clever to fool Sylar at his own game - and although he'd initiated this whole team idea, he obviously wasn't much for the whole idea of "team playing" himself. For all Sylar knew, Grell was ready to ambush Sylar the second he stepped into the room, and, with his sore-ass, beat-up arm and lack of true power, Sylar wasn't sure how well he could put up a fight ( ... )

There was no sign of either of his companions when Kenren arrived in the next hallway over and that brought a slight frown to his face. He hadn't thought that he'd dawdled for quite so long, but perhaps it had been longer than he'd expected. Or perhaps Homura and Okita were off conspiring somewhere, or doing other things. The thought made the frown melt off his face, replaced with a grin. The two of them kind of suited each other in a way. As long as they didn't turn their combined evil against him, he didn't really care.
He moved to lean back against the wall next to Adel's room, waiting for the two of them to arrive. Or not arrive as the case might be if there was philandering going on.

Okita had always thought it fortunate that every hall here was like the others. The layout was surprisingly simple compared to navigating the winding streets of Kyoto, which made it easy to know exactly where he needed to go at any given time. The number of outs were significantly reduced should a person need a back door to escape, but he supposed people here tended to fight more than flee.
As he approached Adel's room, Okita let his guard relax and began snacking on the chocolate cake Ayumu had brought for him. The desserts here always appealed to him more than the dinners, so having two of them in one night was a real treat. Especially something made of chocolate, which was reserved specifically for the aristocracy even in Okita's time. With the pillowcase of weapons slung over his back, Okita drew closer to the room and to the lone person waiting outside of it. Not the right height or stance for Homura, so...
"Good evening, Kenren-san. I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

His smile widened when he saw the remains of the chocolate cake on Okita's fingers. "Having fun with that?" he asked with a soft laugh. At least someone was enjoying something good.

Someone who was likely off and running already. Okita wondered just where Ayumu would go tonight, and what she would find.
Turning his thoughts away from his friend, Okita's smile widened at Kenren's joking comment. "Of course. Chocolate is an amazing thing, isn't it? Did they have it where you are from?"
