It seemed awfully quiet, really, aside from the distant sounds of other patients running around. So, was everyone unlocked? Was everyone just out and loose? Were the nurses all asleep, or maybe hiding?
Were the nurses hiding from horrible monsters that were going to need delicious patients for their meals?
At least his guess about direction seemed to have been right, since as soon as he entered the upper part of the hallway (or maybe it was the lower; it was hard to tell without a map) there was another door just like the one he'd come out of from his own hall. The rooms should be safe, right? If they unlocked the doors and practically goaded patients to come out on the ceiling dendenmushi the rooms had to be safe, probably, maybe. So getting to another room was his first priority for tonight, unless Simon was actually lying and maybe he turned into some sort of monster at night, like a ninja-werewolf, and he kept people from spreading his secret by eating them or ( ... )

In the back of Claude's mind, he acknowledged that it was possible they wouldn't find Dias and Guy in the morgue. Maybe Landel had decided to keep their bodies somewhere else, or perhaps a monster would block their path before they could actually make it. Either way, he was determined to do everything in his power to find them. If they failed tonight, they would just have to try again tomorrow.
Except you're not going to fail tonight, he sternly told himself. He had to be optimistic or else he'd just drag himself down further than he already was. Besides, after everything that had happened, he practically owed it to Dias and Guy to make sure they were seen to as soon as possible.
Claude took a deep breath and quickened his pace.

Bill pointed his flashlight down both ends of the hallway, and knew before he'd done it that all he'd see was more dense blackness. He thought of his best friend back at the naval academy - Bones, his memories suggested, and this time he didn't bother to fight it - and of how he'd found the idea of outer space to be so suffocating and terrible.
He'd never understood his friend's fears until now. But then, at least deep space was wide open and full of unknown possibilities. This hospital (of reality, of his mind) was nothing but closed spaces and tight corners, boxing them in like rats in a maze.
Bill headed for the exit, suddenly desperate to get out of here.

While this was outside his dorm area (and he didn't really like that term, either; they were more like cells), Harvey realized that he still wasn't one-hundred percent certain of where Jason's room was.
They'd have to get that fixed tonight, and so he made a note of it. Still, he had been quick to get out here, which meant that if Jason was in the same block as him, chances were he'd be coming out after him. Harvey figured he could wait around for a minute or two before moving on.
Not that he really liked staying in one place (who liked feeling like a sitting duck?), but he didn't think monsters strayed this close to the rooms as a general rule. Not that he'd heard of, at least. It was more when you got into the bowels of the institute that they started poking their heads out. Harvey sneered at that. It would be best if they just stayed in their holes, or wherever they hid.

Harvey looked him up and down and then pushed off of the wall, since he doubted they'd be staying here long. "What the hell happened to you?"
Not forgetting his earlier thought, he realized that Jason must have come from the same block as he had. Well, wasn't that convenient. Maybe meeting up would be a bit easier now that they'd actually had the foresight to figure this out. "What's your room number, anyway?" Not that he was planning to head there for sleepovers or anything like that, but it was a good thing to know in case anything came up.
After all, as far as he knew, Jason hadn't been nabbed for any experiments yet. There was always a chance that that might come up one of these nights, and Harvey would at least want to know. ( ... )

Sean poked his head out of the door to the block and looked around. He saw someone walking in the hallway, but they looked like a patient. Maybe his door was unlocked, too?
He turned back to Chris, smiling, and walked out of the room block. "The Nurse Station should be at the end of this hallway, I think..." he said. "We'll just knock."
'Are you insane? You knock, they'll come out!'

"Right." He almost hoped they weren't there at all. That way, they wouldn't get into trouble for being out after hours and then could just go back to their room and sleep.
