Day 42: Morris Park (evening)

Jul 12, 2009 23:56

[Free, no limits.]Not that he was digging his heels in or anything, but the end of the day found Ichimoku Ren on the opposite end of town from the drop-off point. He didn’t need any more alone time, considering he’d been on his own the entire day, the sheriff’s office having been empty and his newfound appetite not being enough to spur him into ( Read more... )

The park seemed the best place to catch up with Xigbar and the filched alcohol. It had all gone off without a hitch so now Rangiku was making her way through the most overgrown part of the park, letting the coming darkness give her a little more cover. She should have been doing club things she was sure, gathering information, but no, she needed her time to grieve, even if he hadn't died, and perhaps brace herself for a visitor tomorrow who would be Gin without the edges. She didn't think that she could bear to see him like that.

So for the rest of today, she would be Rangiku, not Matsumoto-fukutaicho.

She crouched down amongst a stand of overgrown trees where the branches obscured her from the vision of most, and all she could do now was wait for him.

[For Xigbar]

Really, this plan had gone on perfectly. The old man had been distracted just long enough for Xigbar to do the thing he did so very well, and now it was time to share the spoils. The scary dude could come along if he liked, but right now, hos before bros. ...or scary dudes.

After idly wandering through town and enjoying the sights, Xigbar finally found what he was looking for, amid some trees in Morris Park. Hey, seemed like a sweet enough deal for him! He trotted over, grinning broadly as he did so. "Yo! Sorry to keep a beautiful woman waiting, but it wasn't like we had an escape plan in mind."

Rangiku smiled and gave him a lazy wave when Xigbar arrived, leaning back against the nearest tree and peering up at him. "I think I can take a little waiting if it gets me a stiff drink," she said with a touch of amusement. She hadn't had a drink in such a long time. "Thank you for the help," she added, beckoning him over towards her. "I haven't played that kind of scam in a good long while."

"Well... I think I can manage something like that." He grinned as he slipped next to Rangiku, hopefully fairly decently far away from the nurse's prying eyes. After that, he drew his pokeball and opened it up, retrieving the bottle of highly potent vodka from within. Why settle for anything less, when he could only get one item?

"Heh, an' don't mention it. Been a long time since I've had someone as distracting as you to draw attention away." The way he said it? Absolutely positive.

Kvothe kept a wary eye on the sky as he wandered aimlessly, he'd been unable to find Tony anywhere on the streets of Doyletown and now it was getting late. Maybe too late? His conversation with Anise on the bus was weighing heavily on his mind now, if they didn't leave soon, would they make it back to the institute before it got dark?

Or was it already too late?

Kvothe was a brave young man, but he didn't relish the thought of being trapped in the close quarters of a bus with the monsters that roamed at night. Especially since none of the other patients would be armed and he still wasn't exactly in the best condition to defend himself hand to hand. A flicker of movement in the corner of his eye caught his attention, the fleeting impression of a too-white face, but when he turned nothing was there. He surpressed a shudder and rubbed the edge of the cast on his hand.
