Night 41: F-A Block Hallway

There was no sign of anyone else here. Maybe she was early - she had left her room immediately, after all. The rest of the team should be here soon.

Soma took up position on the other side of the hallway so she faced the F-blocks and waited.

A few strides had brought Taura to the mouth of the larger hallway and the door to the women's bathroom. She wasn't quite sure why they were meeting here, but here she was. Perhaps it was just convenience, if Himura and Kamiya were both women's names -- she wasn't exactly sure.

Another woman was standing sentry over the ends of the hallway. Taura transferred her flashlight to her left hand and walked over next to her, mirroring her position.

She was hesitant to break the silence, though, and merely nodded a greeting.

A considerably taller woman had emerged from the same hallway as Soma. She was very obviously not Senna, but she could just as well be one of the other two people in her group. Only one way to find out.

Soma nodded back, tilting her head upward to meet the other woman's gaze. "Excuse me, but are you Miss Sumeragi or Miss Meche?"

"Nope." She shook her head. "Name's Taura. And I don't suppose you're Himura or Kamiya -- I'm not even sure if either of them is a 'Miss'."

Taura glanced around, but no-one and nothing else had entered the area. "Guess we're both the first ones here." She tucked her flashlight under her arm and started trying to detangle her hair with her fingers. It was frizzing badly -- dirtside air was always so much more humid on any but the most arid planets.

Good timing, it looked like! "I'm Sumeragi," Hokuto spoke up, nodding to the girl who had asked. "Call me Hokuto."

The person she'd spoken to was obviously a soldier of some type; she couldn't help but think of Signum. I hope we see her again... Still, she smiled at both of them, friendly as ever.

And another dark hallway. This time, however, it seemed there were others waiting and meeting up here. Franziska could hear female voices as she moved, but she gave them a wide berth. She had things she needed to do and she was neither this 'Sumeragi' or 'Meche' so she didn't wish to get tangled in unnecessary conversation.

Walking forward, she continued on into the next hall.

[moving down from this thread, locked to Himura and Kamiya]

The hall seemed to be a popular staging ground. Taura found a quiet section on the other side of the bathroom door and leaned up against the wall. She wasn't putting any real weight into it; the pose was a study in deliberate casualness, but every muscle was ready to spring into action.

After a few minutes, she started tugging at her hair again. She couldn't afford to let it get in the way -- leaving it long was an indulgence she'd never had to regret, and she hoped tonight wasn't going to prove the exception.

Taura watched the ebb and flow of people, nodding to Armand as he passed to and fro on his courier runs. She stayed put, content watching the meetings and reunions that seemed to be the makeshift purpose of this hallway. A couple fell into each others arms; another pair gave a demonstration of what was involved in gathering metal, albeit unwittingly. Paths converged and moved out. Body language separated civilians from professionals, but everyone she saw was propelled by the same determination.

Finally, a pair were heading straight for her. She stepped to attention, and then bowed in response. "Yeah, I'm Taura. Glad to see you're both okay. Two people already came out of this bathroom with a bunch of piping. Um, assuming that was the plan?"

"Nice to meet you, Taura-san," Kaoru smiled at their third, then shrugged and looked to Kenshin for a hint. Certainly, there had to be more metal than that which was only in the bathrooms (and what was metal doing in the bathrooms anyway?), wasn't there? "If there isn't... where are we to go next, Kenshin?"

Misa sighed a little as she entered this next hallway. Well, at least there were people here. She nodded to the group that was gathered there, then moved out into the main hall.

So far, no snakes rearing their heads just begging to be crushed beneath the Bride's heel. Beatrix took up a position by the door to the women's bathroom and waited for HK-47 to arrive.

HK had never really had any reason to find this area of the cell blocks. He didn't have any assassination targets here, so why should he go out of his way to wander around where all the meatbags were stored? At least he'd memorized his maps days ago, so he knew exactly where he was going.

He saw a familiar heat signature lurking by the door to the RV point. Those injuries still looked quite lurid in the infrared. It was quite easy to understand why the one responsible was wanted messily dead. He could help make that happen!

He got close (but not too close) before saying a cheerful "Greeting: Hello, meatbag!"

Beatrix noted HK-47's presence a few moments before he spoke up. She hadn't been positive it was him until she heard his oddly cheerful voice, but she was in a non-combative mood, so she was far more tolerant of the potential sneaking up that he could have done to her. As much as she hated to admit it, she was still feeling enough pain to be mildly distracted unless she felt her life was in danger.

"Good to see you didn't get sidetracked again," the Bride replied. "To make your blade, we need to provide the Norn with raw materials. My katana is made from the pipes in this bathroom and it did not even chip when it met Ophelia's claymore while she was at full strength."

She felt no need to point out that HK-47 needed to rip pipes out of the bathroom walls. He was a smart droid,

"Statement: I do not get sidetracked. Just unavoidably delayed." Which was true! But with the value of 'unavoidable' defined entirely in terms of how important certain things might be to HK at that moment.

"Very interesting. Query: Shall we move along, then?" He was so excited to get a good bladed weapon, and it certainly showed in his tone.
