Day 41: Sun Room

May 15, 2009 13:37

Haseo's steps were heavy with the weight of righteous anger as he was escorted into the Sun Room, his posture so sullen and reluctant you could almost hear the nostalgic cry of an electric guitar. He was seething, and though perhaps it was a bit harder to be intimidating while wearing the uniform of an insane asylum and flanked by a bored-looking ( Read more... )

Tsukasa was silent as the nurse gave him a small tour, ignoring her words in favour of staring at his hands. They were larger than his own ones in the real world and they... they had fingerprints on them, neat whorls that he knew had never been there before, even when he'd been trapped before. PCs just didn't have that much detail yet, no matter how good the graphics were, right ( ... )

Haseo didn't really think he had much interest in talking to someone else who had just gotten there, and he gave a dirty look at the nurse's retreating back for being presumptive enough to force him into a conversation that would probably only turn awkward.

Then again, it wasn't like he could forget the amount of bewilderment he'd experienced only a brief time before. If this guy had just found himself there as he had, he couldn't blame him for being a little off-center, especially since it looked like nobody was going to fly to his "rescue" like Endrance had done for him.

In fact, considering he wasn't screaming and about to fistfight a mob of orderlies, Haseo thought he was probably taking it a little better than he had at first... although the Adept Rogue was far from being anything like a psychologist. It was just... why couldn't they have found him someone else to talk to anyway?

"Fine," he said reluctantly, "I guess 'Morgan' isn't any more who you are than I am 'Kai.' What's--" Suddenly, Haseo froze, staring at Tsukasa for a ( ... )

Great. The nurse had to push him together with someone anti-social. Tsukasa could sympathise with not wanting to talk with people but it made things more uncomfortable for him now. He perched on the edge of the sofa, taking a moment to stare at his hands again while he waited for the nurse to leave. He didn't want to talk around her, not when she was calling him such a terrible name.

He shook his head in response to the boy's question. "I'm not called Morgan," he said with some distaste. He didn't want to be called anything so close to her name. He noted the way that the other boy stared at him for a moment and he crossed his arms over his chest defensively. "I'm called Tsukasa." he bit his lip for a moment. He could feel that too, could feel the texture of the clothing beneath his fingers. "I was in Net Slum before I woke up, and Carmina Gadelica before that. I don't know how I got here."

This 'Tsukasa' looked so lost that Haseo almost felt bad, and he let out a breath in mild irritation as he too crossed his arms. Technically, he was the leader of a guild devoted to helping newbies, even if Silabus and Gaspard practically did that by themselves with only little interference from him. So... well maybe there was some sort of obligation to try and help the guy out ( ... )

Trunks allowed himself to be quietly led through the hallways, listening with one ear to the nurse's idle chatter--learning in the process that this place was called Landel's Institute, and that he was here to 'get better,' whatever that meant. He wasn't sick. (Dead was another matter entirely, but at the moment he wasn't even sure of that anymore.)

She continued talking--the mention of a bulletin board caught Trunks's interest slightly more than the rest of her nonsense--finally stopping after suggesting that he should find a place to sit down, and that someone surely would be along to talk to him after a while.

He moved to stand in front of the bulletin board first, eyes moving over all the notes on it. Confused questions, short messages--none in a hand familiar to him, or using any names that he recognized. Damn, was he alone here?

Breakfast had been enlightening thanks to Javert, but not in the way that Kibitoshin would have hoped. The lasting impression was that the had not only fallen down a well but that he had landed on a tack at the bottom as well. Oh, dear ( ... )

Well, Trunks certainly hadn't been expecting that. He heard someone calling his name, and started to turn--but whoever it was had been faster, and already had him by the shoulder. He jumped in surprise, whirling around with wide eyes.

He certainly didn't recognize whoever it was, though they obviously knew him. Or the other-time him...

"Uh. Hi?"

The smile slipped from Kibitoshin's face the second he realised that Trunks had no idea who he was. At all.

Uh-oh. Not good.

Maybe it was the new skin colour? Or the shock? But Trunks had known him since he was young- much younger than he was now. They hadn't exactly been the best of friends, but surely he'd be able to recognise... no! He had to stay positive! "It's me! Kibitoshin!" He paused expectantly, then, encouragingly, added, "I used to be the East Kaioshin, remember?"

Breakfast had been interesting, if only because Zaraki was such a simpleton. Let slip that there were a few challenging fights and the man had little interest in anything else. So long as Gin didn't become one of those targets, Zaraki could terrorize whomever he pleased.

Gin jotted down a message on the bulletin, then found a seat on one of the empty couches. Outside might've been a better choice for people watching, but he wanted to keep a close eye on the bulletin board.

Breakfast for Crawford had been extremely annoying, and the Sun Room gave him the promise of something unrelated to focus on. Over the last few days he'd noticed that certain people seemed to have a degree of authority over the bulletin board; they posted informative notes for the greater good, and, for the most part, other people appeared to trust them. Crawford wanted to know what they looked like--mostly for later reference, partly for curiosity's sake.

In the meantime, there was possibly something to be learned from the other people in the room. Crawford chose one somewhat arbitrarily: it was the hair color that first caught his eye, and his intuition agreed; as good a choice as any, maybe better than some.

He sat down on the same couch, keeping a respectful distance, and glanced over at the bulletin board. "Are you waiting for someone?" he asked, looking back at the other man.

[Ack, sorry for being slow, I didn't see the tag! D: ]

Gin regarded the man casually, with a smile and a nod as he sat on the couch. He didn't appear overly interested, but then, there were several other conversations and goings on that made splitting his attention too much difficult.

"Not at all," he shrugged, "jus' takin' it easy. An' yourself?" He hadn't met this one before, and few people approached him without reason. For now, however, he remained friendly and open.

[No problem :)]

"I want to know who puts up those long and helpful notes," Crawford said, glancing at the board again. There was no point in concealing it; perhaps this man might even know, might be willing to talk about it. "The club information, and the maps, among other things."

One of them was M.E., that was all he knew--and it was entirely possible that the man sitting next to him was the same M.E., but there was only one way to find out. "Brad Crawford," he added, extending his hand.

B had been planning on getting quite a bit done for the night- obtaining a knife, for one, and perhaps going back upstairs and stalking another random person he ran into. Therefore, when he suddenly sat up in bed, strikingly similar to the very first time he'd awakened in Landel's, he was unsurprisingly put off. Not only that, it appeared that from the announcement blaring over the intercom that somehow he'd missed breakfast. ...And pancakes. It was a rather troubling predicament, and accordingly he almost frowned as he was led out of bed and through the Institute.

"A moment please," he said once entering the Sun Room, then made a B-line straightaway right toward the bulletin. Of course, he had no intention of making his stay any shorter than the duration of the shift. So far, he still hadn't made it outside and wished to keep it that way, so he kept an eye on the nurse and the others in the room, meaning to approach one if it meant furthering his current goal.

Wordlessly, Kino followed her way down several hallways before entering through large doors, finding herself in a much larger-- and genuinely brighter, nothing like the dull feeling of fluorescent lighting compared to sunshine-- room. The vast windows that surrounded the room were almost impressive, and after admiring them for the shortest of moments, Kino turned her attention to the crowd ( ... )

Perfect.

It was rather novel for someone to approach him, unsurprisingly enough- particularly people he didn't know or who claimed to know him. It was a fact not lost on him... a symbol of fate, perhaps, considering his intentions. After an acceptable moment of unreaction, B slowly turned his eyes from the board in order to properly look at his unexpected companion, even though his hands didn't leave where they lay on its surface, somewhere between the usual unresolved sexual tension and roughly three demands for another's whereabouts. B honestly didn't have much experience with people who weren't already jaded and clearly showed it, but it was an easy guess that most would have described the short person who had addressed him as "innocent ( ... )

"Ah, good." A tiny, but noticeable, pleased smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. "It would be troublesome if I had to disrupt someone else."

With that out of the way, Kino fell back into a deadpan, and she only gave the board one last look where his hands were placed before fixating her eyes on him. "I'm curious about this hospital; I wasn't aware they took people unexpectedly and placed them here. Is this a common occurrence that happens to outsiders?"

[Waiting for Honey. Preferably a private thread, but...ping us if you have an idea XD]

[From here.]

Kaoru's stomach seemed to be trying to commit a mutiny. Moreso than usual. Nerves were the culprit this time though. He found and seat and curled up, waiting for Honey and hoping Usa-chan would be with him.

He felt so stupid and useless, but... he needed to talk to someone. Someone he could trust that was Hikaru. Sure Hikaru was aware of the problem, hard not to be, but... Kaoru didn't want to worry him too much. And now, with pressure from the nurses, the problem felt like it had grown a hundred times bigger, just as he'd been getting better. Their eagerness for him to eat scared him, made his suspicious. And he knew how stupid that was.

Honey wasn't far behind Kaoru. It took a bit longer for the nurses to help dry and comb his hair, and of course, he wouldn't leave the room until Usa-chan was safely back in his arms, but he didn't keep his friend waiting long. The boy was curled up on one of the seats in the Sun Room and Honey bounded over to sit next to him, offering the pink rabbit up. Right now it looked like Kaoru needed Usa-chan a lot more than he did. He could be brave for a little while without it.

"It's okay to be scared," Honey said as he held the stuffed toy out. It was only years of training and his own personal difficulties that had taught him that. It was only when the fear got the better of you that it began to be a problem. He still got a worried knot in his stomach at night waiting to see if Takashi would really come for him.

"If you don't want to talk right now, you don't have to, but... I'll listen," he said positively, adding a nod for emphasis.

hangenki May 16 2009, 10:54:50 UTC
Kaoru took Usa-chan without hesitation (or thanks) and held him close, covering his face. He didn't expect Honey to jump right to the point like that and his body seemed to pull itself in, making him smaller. But, really, it helped. He couldn't allow himself a way out of this or he'd continue on feeling like crap.

"I-it's.... it's not ok if you're scared of something so stupid," he huffed, sadly, voice muffled by Usa-chan.

host_club_honey May 17 2009, 04:40:55 UTC
Honey hesitated when Kaoru seemed to retreat like that. Had he said the wrong thing? He knew the twins were fairly closed off, but the host club was different and especially with Kaoru, he'd not had much trouble before in speaking with the boy. Maybe he was getting rusty. Then again, most of the problems he'd dealt with before were minor things; drama at school, love triangles or quadrilaterals or whatever sort of polynomials they were now a day.

"Kao-chan," Honey said, drawing his own legs up into his chest, "I get scared just being in tiny rooms. Or of being alone in the dark. I know it's silly, but I can't help it."

Even if it seemed small or stupid, it could still have a profound effect on someone. That was just the nature of fear. He could try to control it, but even he had trouble not breaking into tears just by getting stuck in the washroom at Haru-chan's house.
