[ From here-ttebayo :O ]

It rumbled, as much as Kyuubi used to rumble and nag, with short indignation: Sasuke was leading them, and Sasuke was Sasuke. As if still a genin (well, technically) he almost blurted something purely combative for no good reason. The facts: Sasuke had a bat and knew this place a little better than he or Gaara did.

Following in tow he settled for muttering something indecipherable. His nerves were a bit on edge because of that conversation in the Sun Room; that it was so dark and the atmosphere so creepy did not help. Unknowingly he gravitated a little closer to Gaara as they walked, after glancing at a shadow on the wall like it was going to attack them.

So outside was a sports field. Great. And upstairs was? "Have you been up here before?"

[ also from here ]Indignation he would have understood, he felt himself. Irritation as well, the sort best kept curled beneath logic and cool rational. The facts were facts, and whatever Gaara's insatiable pride, he would need to adjust to them. Prioritize, as the Uchiha had said, though Gaara had not needed to hear it to know. If not following this one, he would be following the women, the nurses. So it was. Sports, games, outside, and likely, gates. He noted that there was no response about the bat. He would need to push, and perhaps seek one himself, given time ( ... )

(( From here, hope you don't mind?))

Soujirou had moved down the hallway at a leisurely pace. He hadn't seen any need to hurry. There was nothing here that he feared. The light was kept off, now. If he needed it, his finger was on the button to activate it again, but more likely than not he wouldn't.

The layout of Landels was unknown to him, but in one both directions for a while it had seemed like there was nothing but rooms. However, the further along he got the more it seemed that he was heading in the 'right' direction. That is, towards the out.

The earlier conversation with Bernstein-san floated through his mind. A sword. That, at least, would have been useful.

[[Simultaneous post! Sorry, Soujirou-mun. XD]]

Sasuke moved further along the wall, irritated by the apparently endless questions of the other shinobi. Naruto he knew was largely incapable of functioning without Sakura's common sense. He'd expected more of Sabaku no Gaara, but maybe it was a side effect of being a jinchuuriki.

As such, his tone was short, even for Uchiha Sasuke.

"I was upstairs the first night. We encountered an enemy," he said, straining to hear. There were faint sounds (of conflict?) from the left. Nothing in this hall, so it was likely where he had met the blond. He wondered if the girl was there and dismissed it.

He stopped when the outline of another figure appeared in the hall, bringing the bat to a half-defensive position. It was unlikely that those behind him would have the sense to stay silent until addressed, so he called out, "Who's there?"

It was only a little further. Mal had to hold on to the hope that everyone was still waiting for him. That was what they had told him, right? When he'd asked if they'd still be there... Then again, that had been the Shepherd, and...

That was silly thinking, though. All he had to concern himself with was the here and now, which unfortunately involved a left foot that was stinging something awful.

Groaning to himself, he limped on through the darkness. There was a sizable group of people nearby, but he kept to himself. He couldn't get tied up in other conversations when he had a crew to see.

Simon stared at River with a mixture of abject horror, relief, and ever-present bewilderment. But it was a smile he had for all that, because despite the absence of logic from it, he could not help but find her endearing ( ... )

River smiled brightly as the Captain showed himself. Of course, he was injured as she'd told Simon (sometimes he just didn't listen), so she pranced along behind her brother, withholding comments about being a ninja for the time being as she held the flashlight obediently so that her brother could see. Captain needed tending to, and Simon was already in Doctor-mode. She smiled broadly back at Soujirou for a moment before turning back to the scene.

"Captain won't hit you this time. Not unless you say something dumb," she informed him before turning to frown disapprovingly at Mal.

"I told you. You need taking care of. We all do. Need each other, need shoulders to lean on. Sometimes you have to be carried so you can carry others when they can't crawl."

Mal was somewhat surprised when Simon came out of nowhere. The crew had been ordered to meet in the female hallway. Why was he disobeying orders ( ... )

(coming from here)

Hughes was both glad to be away from the main group and apprehensive. He didn't know what had happened to Hiedrich, or what effects it may have. But he knew that he couldn't leave him alone, or risk something happening to him. He gave little note to the small group in the hallway between the male and female halls - they seemed to be doing fine.

"You don't mind going back to my room, do you?" Hughes asked. And then he grinned. "I can show you pictures of my family - I've got an album. Sort of."

Alessa had ridden along on the little trip to the patient block as a passenger, an odd invisible third wheel between the pair. And though she was invisible, she was certainly making herself heard. She continued to fight to egg Alfons on as subtly as she could, worming her way into his mind, pushing to get him to give in, push him past bitterness and into genuine anger. "I know what it's like to be alone," she whispered, caressing his cheek. Still inside, of course, but the sensation would seem real. "I know. It's not fair that the poor boy had to die alone. I got hurt and no one came to save me, either. We could be friends, you and I--we know pain, not like these others. You're a different sort of boy, Alfons. You deserve better. And I want...I want a friend..." she trailed off, sounding sad, almost unsure.

Alfons had to wonder if he was crazy or if he wasn't. Hearing voices in his head was a very bad sign, and thinking that he had another person inside of him... no, knowing that he had a girl inside of him... that was also a very bad thing. From what he understood, crazy people took their insanity seriously, believed it so honestly that it was real. Which meant very bad things for the German ( ... )

Hughes cast an amused and slightly curious look at Heidrich. That had been an oldy phrased question. But after what the kid had gone through....

"Yeah, I'm married. Have been for a good seven or eight years now. My wife and I have a little girl, most beautiful kid you've ever seen. And smart. Smart as her old man." He gave the younger man a wink. "I tell you, I can't wait to get home to them. It's been too long. Especially for them..."

The month here had been hard enough. But two years without him for Elysia and Gracia....

"Here." Hughes reached into his makeshift pocket and pulled out the photo of his family that he carried with him. "Those are my two angels. That's my wife Gracia and our daughter Elysia. What about you?" he asked. "Any family back home?"

And once again it was completely dark. This place was beginning to become monotonous and Hisoka was beginning to grow tired of it.

Walking along the hall, the boy kept his ears and eyes alert for anything, the recurring talk of monsters not helping Hisoka feel any bit at ease.

He remained quiet for a few minutes as they emerged into the new section. His ears twitched, but he didn't pick up anything in their immediate vicinity.

"I don't believe that you're my brother." Seimei walked alongside the other with a shrug, his voice pitched low. "Merely that you remind me of him. Is that so bad, to find something familiar in this hellish place?" He asked, glancing to Hisoka.

Hisoka did not bother glancing back at the other man, keeping his attention on his surroundings instead. Yet that did not mean the boy wasn't on full alert, wary of if and/or when Seimei decided to try and touch him again.

"Maybe it is," the shinigami replied with a small shrug. If he wanted something similiar, he wanted that comfort to be here in this hell-- this torment-- with him. Hisoka did not bother elaborating as a small frown rested on his features.

Why did this hall seem so familiar to the previous? Were they still near the patient rooms, or were all the halls alike to prevent those like them from wandering effectively? Keeping his pace steady, Hisoka continued on, idly wondering where a place like this kept all its information.

"Forgive me." Seimei said a moment or two later, as the hallway around them continued to be silent and dark. He swept the beam of his flashlight around, on guard for any attack. "I was overzealous. I did not mean to alarm you. I simply am weary of being alone, if that makes any kind of sense to you."

"Even if you do not trust me, two minds working toward a single goal are better than one. I watch your back, you mine. That is all."
