When Guy woke up, he was still feeling triumphant. They had actually pieced that riddle together! Sure, it had taken some time to put their heads together and figure it out, but in the end they had managed, which meant he was back in his bed this morning instead of being sphinx food ( ... )

That easily answered his question, but Guy still couldn't help letting out a sigh. This was the first time he'd had to deal with the reported memory loss himself, and he could already tell that it was going to be a hassle having to explain everything all over again. Maybe it wouldn't have been so annoying if it wasn't Asch ( ... )

What an unexpectedly crazy night that had been.

Okay, maybe 'crazy' wasn't the right way to put it-- nothing too breathtaking or exciting or dramatic or whatever happened just by attempting to hold another meeting in the room-- but it sure felt like it, so it was good enough for her. For nearly a week it had only been Ken and herself from back home living in this very definition of hell; now, as of last night half of their team, and a member of Strega too, was pulled here... It was a big sign to her that Landel wanted something out of Persona users.

But it was much too early to be thinking about this now, especially when it was probably useless to anyway, as Landel was all mighty and strong and powerful and... singing 'Old McDonald'. Yeah, it really was too early for this.

At least there was food, one thing Yukari could be happy about. With a decent amount of it loaded on to her tray, she did what one had to do in every breakfast routine before this one: pick out a random seat, get comfortable, and dig in.

Kaoru's night had been....interesting. Not entirely wasted, though they hadn't exactly gotten far. Still. The club seemed like it might be fun. It just needed organising a little better. He'd work on today with Hikaru.

Speaking of Hikaru... he wasn't here yet. But at least Kaoru knew he was alright. Wolfy was another story.

Kaoru piled a measly breakfast on his tray and sat near the friendliest person he could see. He smiled.

"Morning."

The first voice of the day was a friendly one, albeit from a boy she had yet to meet, but that was hardly an issue; she was welcome to pretty much anyone right now.

"Mornin'," Yukari echoed in a greeting of her own, returning the smile. In an attempt to start some nice conversation, she noted aloud, "You look like you're in a good mood."

"Hey, I'm alive. My brother's alive. My friend's are alive. It's all good, right?" No, it wasn't because they were still here, but whatever. Kaoru was in a good mood, so it seemed a little easier to try and eat today. Small amounts, but still. Food was food and he had to train himself to eat so he could enjoy cake at night!

"How are- oh. I'm Kaoru, by the way. How are you?"

[For Kaito. I kid you not. ♥]

Two good mornings in a row; two good moods in a row. Yuffie was on a roll! Unfortunately, she was also bored as hell, but that's what she got when she spent the night utterly failing to sleep like she'd been planning to; she always had been a light sleeper, and the whole ominous institution of doom setting wasn't exactly comfortable. It looked like, once again, she was going to have to think up something absolutely epic to occupy herself with during the day ( ... )

Last night had been a waste.

Kaito hadn't meant to fall asleep, but he'd laid down while waiting for the doors to unlock, and he'd fallen asleep. He wasn't exactly beating himself up over it like Hattori had been when he'd done the same, but he was a little disappointed in himself for it. Well, at least he could relate to how the detective had felt now...

As for this morning, he'd been enjoying breakfast alone when someone dropped into the seat across from him. He looked up to see the last person (or near to) that he'd expected: Yuffie.

Great.

It wasn't that he disliked the girl; on the contrary, he'd enjoyed their conversation on the bus well enough. But the fact that he'd shared some sleight-of-hand of the pickpocketing variety with her meant he probably needed to be careful around her now that Kudou was around.

Still, that didn't keep him from smirking at her as he leaned one arm against the table. "Well, well," he said. "If it isn't the candy thief?"

Apparently, her good mood had led to a complete lapse in paying attention. Yuffie hadn’t even noticed who she'd sat with; if she had, she sure as hell wouldn't have focused on decimating her pile of waffles! Needless to say, hearing that voice was just a little… Surprising. Shocking. Unexpected, and whoops, she'd just choked on a bit of waffle.

Yuffie coughed, slapping a hand over her mouth. “So says you,” she managed. “Mr. I-Steal-Candy-From-Innocent-Ninja.” Death by waffle would not be a good way to go! It'd be completely embarrassing, especially in front of a fellow thief. ‘Just a magician’ my ass, she thought -- not for the first time--, snatching her glass of water and taking a long gulp. If her cheeks were a little warm, just a little pink, there was no way she was going to admit it.

[Sorry for the wait. And the fail.]

"I'd hardly say that you're 'innocent'," Kaito replied, smirk still plastered on his face despite a minor concern over her choking on her waffle. She seemed to have it under control...

He waited for her to finish her drink, wondering how he should handle the situation with her from here. He couldn't exactly tell her not to say anything about the theft if she saw a guy who looked like him: given what little he knew of her, she'd probably tell Kudou just to spite him. Or maybe he had her figured all wrong, but he didn't want to test it with something so important.

Instead, he decide to focus on her recent choking... for now. "You okay?"

Lust slipped into the cafeteria and quickly left her nurse behind, getting her own breakfast. Another useless night of wandering had left her in her usual temperament.

Ah, but what was this?

Smiling some, Lust swung her hips as she crossed the cafeteria and took a seat.

"Good morning," she purred, setting down her tray.

"Absolutely nothing of importance," Lust admitted, beginning on her breakfast. "I wandered about by myself last night, and other than the usual assortment of things that go bump in the night and confused new-comers, I saw nothing worth noting."

Which was beginning to stick in her throat. She was used to success, used to accomplishing what she set out to do. And in the beginning, she had. She'd gathered a great deal of information, explored every inch of the place....

Now what?

"What about you? Any good stories to share with a lonely girl this morning?"

[gimme a MI, gimme a KA, gimme a MI. MI-KA-MI!]

Ryuk's roommate was way to fidgety, but it was still pretty fun for the minute. And, once it got annoying, he'd be easy to shut up. So things were looking ok for Ryuk until he reached the buffet. No apples? What. Ryuk had no time for this. His head was hurting like a...hurty thing. And he felt quite sick. Every time he moved towards the fruit and orderly stepped in his way.

"Not until you've had something else," the nurse urged him.

Ryuk glared at her, grabbed a plate and held it out to the kitchen staff, not even looking at them. "Give me anything," he muttered. once his plate felt heavy, he moved it away, still watching the nurse. He stepped towards the apples again and she stepped with him.

"Not until y-" She was silenced by Ryuk's hand waving in front of her face. He stormed off to the nearest table, watching the fruit. But the nurse was watching him. If this carried on, he was going to get withdrawal.

As soon as Mikami woke up, he knew there was a conspiracy, something keeping him from laying his hands on the patient files. The thought was practically tangible, swirling in his head as he came to, and despite knowing that apparently moments before he had been almost to the door of one of the institute's waiting rooms, that was the first thing on his mind. He sat up in a foul mood. Repeated failure was a hard pill to swallow ( ... )

Ryuk's glare only spared the fruit cart a split second of his hatred in order to direct it at Mikami. Lawyers and the obvious went hand in hand some days. No shit something was the matter.

Oh wait. Shinigami. Better than human. All that crap.

"No."

He looked at his breakfast and wanted to scream. In a sort of...scary, unhumiliating and very non-girlish way. WHat the hell was this stuff. Poison. That's what.

"When the nurse is distracted, put some of this on your plate, ok?"

Even Mikami, who would have generally been unfazed, had to admit being on the receiving end of a look like that was disconcerting. Ryuk may have been placed in a human form somehow, but he was still a Shinigami. And so far, Mikami had not been exposed to this particular side of the creature.

Due to the following answer, however, he could tell the Shinigami was being deceptive. Or evasive. Unfortunately for both involved, Mikami's own negative mood and rising determination regarding the less-than-desirable situation only served to make him more curious. They couldn't afford to harbor weakness in a place like this, and his mind switched over immediately to what had gone wrong in the Shinigami's demeanor. Of course... it had been two full days since Yagami Light had disappeared, and... had Ryuk even had the chance to meet up with him? Mikami had to wonder what Kira's purpose was in going but leaving behind a servant as... interesting as Ryuk. Mikami had figured before that the Shinigami must have actually worked closely with Kira in ( ... )
