Nightshift 37; M35 (Clinic)

Dec 08, 2008 12:45

Tamaki wasted no time at all in setting out their supplies and hanging the sign for the clinic. Since Ed was coming by to collect him - which made it sound terribly like a date - he wanted to do everything he could for preparation before he talked to the new people coming. Hopefully they'd be here shortly ( Read more... )

"Ah! Yes!" Tamaki beamed as brightly as he could manage. "I'm Tamaki, we spoke. Thank you so much for coming!" Well, this was wonderful! Tamaki took a seat on the edge of his bed and gestured for Tony to take a seat.

"I'm technically in charge here, and I have all sorts of books and notes on medicine and broken bones and things like that. I'm still learning myself, but so many people here have experience and are terribly helpful!"

"Well, it's easier to learn that way," Tamaki said. "The healers here, they use magic. And, well, I'm not a magic person myself. But a lot of it's not as complicated as you'd think. I'm the only one here right now, and the only one who doesn't use magic, I think."

He couldn't remember if Kratos was like Raine, but he thought he might be.

"But we have Miss Raine and Miss Sheena, and Kratos too. And sometimes people will come to help for a night..."

Kratos led Guy to the opposite bed, motioning for him to sit down before gently beginning to undo his handiwork from the previous night: he needed the arm unrestrained for the spell to work properly. "How did the splint work out?" It was an obvious attempt at small talk, but that was better than an awkward silence.

Guy promptly sat when Kratos motioned, setting down his cleaver and then offering over his arm for the other man to see to. He was glad that Kratos would be able to take care of it, since that meant they could get it over with here and now, and he also didn't have to fret over any possible problems that might have been caused by Raine casting the spell.

"Oh, it was great, thanks," Guy responded. Making sure it was a little more secure had helped with the pain slightly, after all.

He had to admit he was curious about how this healing wold work. Considering Kratos could perform the same sword skills that he could, would his healing magic also be similar to the sorts of things Tear and Natalia did?

"Good to know." Yes, indeed: it had been a while since he'd done any non-magical first aid (the combination of magic and gels tended to render it rather moot), and any positive feedback meant that rusty skills were not so rusty after all.

With Guy's arm free, Kratos was set to cast the spell: "First Aid." He held a hand over Guy's arm and allowed the spell to run its course as it healed the break- mission accomplished.

He backed up and took a deep breath to steady himself: the aftereffects of casting were not fun at all. "That's that, I think. Test it."

It was one thing for the spell's name to be the same (it wasn't like "First Aid" was a very creative name in the first place), but the weird part was how it actually felt the same way as when Natalia had cast the spell on him. It was more nostalgic than he'd really expected it to be, and suddenly he found himself missing the girl.

Guy kept all of that to himself, though. Right now he needed to focus on the fact that his arm should be back to normal. He shot a worried glance at the other man before nodding and stretching his arm out. It still felt slightly weak, as if it had been strained rather than broken, but it was an enormous improvement.

"That's great!" he exclaimed, grinning at Kratos. "Thanks a lot. I'm going to see if I can get up to the pharmacy tonight to grab some supplies for you guys. Are you all right?" There wasn't much he could do to help if the spell had worn Kratos out, but he did feel bad about it. He would just have to hope that getting those supplies would make up for the trouble he'd caused.

Sheena paused at the doorway, letting Raine go through before her, and then lingered there.

"Hey," she said to the four inside. "Just checking in before we go save people." Risuka was just outside, so Sheena left Raine in the clinic after letting her know she'll be right outside with Ritsuka.

Raine just checked on how everything had been set up; she trusted Tamaki, she just still preferred to double-check some things.

She'd been worried when she saw they apparently had a patient already and she'd missed their arrival, but then she saw that it was Guy... all right, Kratos being the only healer when he came in might be considered a good thing!

Once she was sure M35 was set up and that her bag had hopefully enough supplies, she left; it was strange to only check in, but it should be worth it to get out and about again.

Kaoru peeked into the room before entering. He wasn't sure why he was being careful. Maybe he just didn't want to see an mauled bodies. Least of all Hika- no. No, Hikaru was safe in bed. Kaoru was certain.

Keeping the smile forced on his face, he beckoned Tamaki over to him.
"I need to ask a favour."

"Yes?" Tamaki asked, trying not to show he was worried or nervous about something. He wondered what Kaoru needed, and why he needed Tamaki to do it.

Luckily for Tamaki, Kaoru had his own worries to hide, he was hardly going to try and pick on anybody else's. Instead, he stood very close to Tamaki and leaned in closer still.

"Look. Ritsuka's gone upstairs and... I gave him a mini communicator," he whispered. "But I'm going to Hikaru's room, so I'm too far if anything happens. Will you take this? We need it back by tomorrow and you're not to tell a SOUL about this. Unless you have to. But it's ours ok? We need it back."

He handed the mini comm to his friend with a quick explanation of how to work it.

"Of course." Tamaki took the communicator and slipped it up his sleeve. "I swear I won't tell a soul!" And he wouldn't. This was just to keep an eye - or ear, as it were - on Ritsuka. "And you shall have it returned to you in the morning! Now...ah...I really have to go, we're terribly understaffed here tonight!"

"Um. Hello?" Miles looked around, a bit nervously, as he entered. "I hate to be a bother, but..."

He'd wait for an answer before continuing.

Kratos had finished healing Guy's arm, which left him free to address their new arrival. He walked over as swiftly as he could. "Are you looking for something?"

It was a bit brusque, but unfortunately words weren't his forte.

That was fine with Edgeworth, as he had no intention of staying long. "I'm not here for me. I know everyone here's busy, but an acquaintance of mine - Adelheid Bernstein, in M22 - he's not doing so well. I'm not acquainted with magical injuries from home, but this looked like one of them. He was in no shape to transport, but if someone could spare a few minutes to check on him, I'd appreciate it."

Kratos mentally noted the name and room number. Adelheid Bernstein, M22; possible magical injury... It sounded like something more down his alley of experience than anyone else in the clinic at the moment, and he would have willingly gone as quickly as possible were it not for the fact that Raine was out for the night. Still, he would check with Tamaki. "We'll...see what we can do. Thank you for the notice."
