Day 21: Breakfast

Renji wasn't certain how he'd gotten from the room with Sora and Nowe back to his bed. He scrambled up and quickly checked; everything that he'd tucked into his clothes was still there, including the trauma shears and the start of the map. He quickly hid those things wherever they would fit - and not be too obvious. Hopefully Nowe and Sora had been ( Read more... )

Albert Wesker had been quite surprised to once again find himself lying on a bed, in that room that he'd already escaped from once. The last thing he could remember was staring at the foolish girl who had charged to his rescue. He had been about to yell at her to run the other way... interesting.

Clearly, the squirrels hadn't gotten him, his clothes were untouched, and there wasn't any blood on him. Not even on the hand he'd embedded in one of the rodent's skull. Oh well. He had once again placed his glasses on his face, and followed out the nurse who mistakenly called him 'Alfred Ashford' with no more than an annoyed glare.

Whoever the people at this facility were, they were good. When he was ushered into the cafeteria he paused for a moment, looking around and eying the food with some distrust.

Wesker looked at the girl and finishing the mouthful of food he'd managed before she came over. That was the same girl from last night, the one who'd decided to play Hero and come to his rescue.

"I don't remember that... you don't either, then?" Interesting. Looking around at the room right now revealed that all the patients present, save for the girl sitting with him, were adult. Most of them male, and all of them looked very physically fit.

"And you really shouldn't have tried to attack the zombie squirrels," Wesker wasn't sure if he would've been able to handle both creatures by himself without his enhanced strength and speed, which had been noticably absent when he'd attacked.

However, he was certain he could have defeated them both without too much difficulty, and he was fairly certain his regeneration was still in place. Some of the bone shards had cut his skin when he'd killed the rodent, and those tiny scratches were completely gone.

Wait, so he didn't know what had happened either? If they'd both lost the memory of how they'd gotten back to their rooms, what did that mean?

She shook her head. "No, I just woke up in my room. Do you think...someone else was there? Could they have knocked us out?"

She noticed him looking around the room to observe the other patients and took the time to munch on a piece of toast. She was confused as he mentioned the the squirrels were...zombies?

"...Zombie squirrels? Is that why they looked like that?" Just when she thought she'd heard everything..."Why would zombies be at a hospital like this?"

She didn't bother to go into denial or call him crazy. She had died and come back to life, been attacked by a killer psychic, and seen the mutated creatures with her own eyes. "Anyway, you wouldn't have had to worry about me." She grinned a bit. "I'm tougher than I look."

Hughes never did get sued to just waking up in bed, even when he hadn't gone there himself. He followed his nurse sleepily, rubbing his eyes and dragging his feet. He had heard the intercom. Family visits. He still hadn't recovered from the last one. Could he skip out? He didn't want to go through something like that again...

Well, he'd worry about it later. He shuffled into line and glanced around for either Ed or the twins he'd met last night. They'd been... well, something else. He wanted to try talking to each of them alone.

Seeing no one familiar, the soldier took a seat at an empty table and started in on some eggs. He doubted he'd be alone for long - he never was.

Riza woke with a start, nearly sitting up straight before she was even conscious. She could feel her heart beating a mile a minute under her hand, but with a few deep breaths it slowed to a more normal pace ( ... )

Hughes looked up and shook his head, grinning some. "Of course I don't mind, have a seat." He gestured with his fork. "So how'd your night go? I ended up with a couple of kids, not unusual." He chuckled some. He always did end up with the younger crowd, whether he intended it or not. They needed someone to be there for them, and Hughes... well, sometimes he needed to be there for people.

It wasn't often that Riza failed in her duties, and she wasn't at all prepared to say that she had. She didn't even have an excuse.

"It's terrible that even children should have to endure this . . . this place." She had no other word for it. She hadn't even come to the firm conclusion that it was real. After all, she was speaking to someone who had already died.

"My night . . . Well, I don't remember falling asleep, sir, but I seem to have spent the night in my room." She sighed quietly, annoyed with herself, but attempting not to show something so unprofessional. "Everyone I've spoken to has warned me about what happens at night, but I had wanted to make use of the time." She pushed at her food with her fork, then left it, looking up again. "You didn't run into any trouble, sir?"

Very little time passed between the moment Fox woke up in his bed and the moment he was standing up in his room. "What the hell." Had he been hit with a tranquilizer? Fox was pretty sure he would've noticed someone sneaking up on them, so perhaps it was some drug they'd been given earlier that only just then took effect when they were sitting there on top of the stairs, Snake had been acting rather strange.

He had quietly followed his nurse out to the cafeteria, grabbing french toast and plenty of protein before sitting down at an empty table in the same spot he'd taken for lunch yesterday, somewhere he could watch the entire room. However, Fox was mostly too busy thinking to pay more than slight attention to everyone else in the room, feeling tired and frustrated, but being careful not to let it show.

The nurse knew what she was doing. Within minutes, she’d lead Otacon through the halls and to the cafeteria, efficiently directing him to retrieve a tray before disappearing again to check up on other patients. “Patients.” He didn’t feel sick-maybe dazed, at worst. He recalled the things that had happened at the Big Shell fairly clearly, but after that… Had he been drugged? Was this a hospital rather than a prison or military base? There were too many unanswered questions ( ... )

Fox glanced up from his bacon when the man came over to sit down. He looked the man over quickly, judging him to be little physical threat he just shrugged slightly.

"Morning." He said quietly, sitting up a bit straighter and putting his doubts and concerns aside for now. There was a lot for him to think about, River, her brother, Snake. But he could put those away for now.

"New here?"

"I think am," Otacon replied with a little self-conscious laugh. He felt completely out of his league without a computer in front of him. Otacon was certain that if Snake was in his position, the stealth operative would've been well on his way to getting out by now. "I actually just woke up, and this might sound weird, but I'm not even sure where we are."

Albel sat up straight the instant he had woke up, eyes wide. He looked around him, and only after he made sure that Triangle-Face wasn't around, he allowed himself to calm down.

So he was back in his room, in one piece, not recalling how he actually got there. Just like the night before. The captain let out a sigh, and noticed how sore he actually felt. He also had a headache, and his shoulder still hurt.

Speaking of which...

It had apparantly been treated and bandaged by someone. The staff? Or the person who had saved him? Albel didn't knew.

Frowning, he finnaly stepped out of his bed the moment the door suddenly opened. A very cheery nurse stepped inside, smiling brightly as some sort of greeting. The captain wasn't particularly interested in getting another sedative dealing with the annoying wench, so he allowed himself to be guided to the cafeteria (but not without glaring at her ( ... )

Zelos was grateful this time for the odd way Landel's had of waking you up. His conversation with Aerith suddenly ended as he woke up in his room. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy her company, but he didn't exactly want the conversation to keep heading where he thought it was.

Following the nurse and grabbing some breakfast, he spotted the dark haired kid from last night eating by himself. A huge grin formed on his face and he plopped himself down in the empty chair the kid had been glaring at. He obviously wanted to be left alone, but Zelos just couldn't resist.

"You're still alive? Gotta give you some serious credit."

Either some fools couldn't take a hint when it bit them straight in the ass, or this person was blind. Whatever it was, the ignorant maggot had decided to take the seat he had been glaring at. It was the guy he had seen last night, the one who had run off with the female. Albel wasn't too pleased that he was interrupted out of his thoughts.

Slightly narrowing his eyes, he finnaly replied. "Of course I'm alive, you worm! Otherwise, I wouldn't be sitting here."

"But why would you care?"

Zelos was not put off by the kid's behavior, only amused by it.

"Oh oh oh, forgive me, great one, for doubting your abilities!" If he was well enough to have such an attitude, then he was probably alright. The truth was, he did feel a little bad about having to run and leave him there. Lloyd's heroic attitude was starting to wear off on him.

"Hey, I'm not as heartless as I look. I'm a caring guy, really."

Tamaki woke up confused and disoriented. Again. He'd been with Azel and... that other boy, the one from Japan who hadn't seem bothered by anything. That had been very strange. He didn't know what to think. But maybe he hadn't really believed them. Tamaki hadn't believed it, at first. Neither had the twins. How could anyone, at first?

Well, he should eat. And see his friends. Maybe he and Azel would have some time today to go over fighting things. And he wanted to make sure that the others were all okay....

He got his breakfast quickly and took a seat. Hardly anyone was here yet. No twins, no Haruhi, no Ed, no Azel... Tamaki sighed and pouted some, never liking to be by himself.

"Elena-kun!" Tamaki grinned widely and then frowned. "What happened to your hair?" It was much shorted than it had been. Why had she cut it? Or had something happened?
