hereMuch emptier here. Didn't seem like anyone else had made it this far, yet. Leon turned on his flashlight and hurried up the stairs. Hopefully nothing too horrible would be hanging around on the second floor, though he wasn't about to hold his breath. There was Special Counseling tonight, and the odds were good that someone would be camped

Sync almost didn't catch his words as he shined his fontech over at a nearby staircase, but his expression dissolved into something akin to apathy as he listened to his 'partner's' reply.
'Easy'? No, nothing had been easy in his life, and because of that he didn't feel inclined to respond to his ignorant assumption. Of course, he couldn't help but scoff at the latter's next question, glancing over his shoulder to look over at him amusedly.
"Yeah. They died." By then he was on the move again, walking over to the staircase and began the long trek up to the second floor.

Needless to say, Joshua followed behind Sync, though a few steps back. It was natural for him to keep his distance, and he hated breaking a sweat as it was. He'd be fine with Sync pulling ahead for a little while if it meant that he could take it easy for now.

The God-General merely laughed at how unfortunate the latter was back where he came from. Of course, he didn't understand the true meaning behind his words, satisfied enough to dismiss it as nothing more than being weak on his part. After all, there was nothing to point out if the latter was even physically fit besides being somewhat on the slim side.
"Ha ha, if there's going to be anyone dying it's going to be you," Sync casually pointed out, continuing his steady pace up the stairs. He hadn't actually been to the second floor before, but he had a good guess with what to expect.

Only two individuals in the staircase, but otherwise the area was deserted of any treats. Thankfully, he didn't need the light-sticks most humans carried to confirm this. Those odd objects made one quite visible, after all.
There wasn't any sense in lingering, however, so he began climbing the stairs.

She followed after him and also began climbing. It occurred to her that she still didn't know his name. "I must apologize again. I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Elincia. What might yours be?"
Reply
"I am called Scar." he answered to her question, pausing his climb for a moment before he added: "A pleasure to meet you, Elincia." Or one should hope. At the very least, this woman seemed to be far better company than some of the others he had ran into up til now as she didn't provide him with a massive headache with a possible lack of brains.
And he glanced up again, trying to determine if there was some sort of fight raging on above. It wouldn't do to walk into one blindly.

She went on up the stairs, looking all around her before reaching the next floor. Scar had said they could be ambushed so it wouldn't hurt to be careful. She just wished she knew exactly what was ambushing people.

Okay, here they were! The stairwell, where all sorts of interesting things happened! Like not bringing up old topics of discussion, because she didn't want to talk about them!
There was no one in there, thank goodness, or at least not that she could see with her own eyes. The guys would be in here with their flashlights in a second, right? It wasn't like it was creepy or anything. Nope. Nothing could faze her.
Nope.

The stairway being empty was a relief. Haseo made sure to look up when he entered the hallway and look on every single wall just to make sure there wasn't anything lurking around. When it was evident that nothing was there, he turned his attention to the other two. "What's so important about matches?" Weapons were an understandable goal, but why were they going to waste a bunch of time in looking for matches? It would make a lot more sense if they found something to defend themselves with before worrying about feeding their innermost pyromaniacs.
The rogue paid a glance to Alkaid, who didn't seem to have a flashlight to her name. Maybe she wanted matches so she could see in the dark?

Badou moved to slip ahead of her, temporarily ignoring Haseo's question until they got into the larger hallway.

Wow, the stairs were kind of scary when they were empty... On the plus side that meant no monsters, but it was still unnerving. MOMO was beginning to question whether or not this was such a good idea, but it was a little late to be second guessing herself now. She'd come this far, after all; turning back now would've made this worth nothing. Plus she wanted to try and do something, not just sit in her room all night.
Taking a deep breath, the realian tightened her hold on her flashlight--just in case--and began walking up the stairs.

The stairwell was almost completely empty, but Sora caught the sound of footsteps a little further up. Even though it was probably just another patient, he wanted to be sure - and besides, what if it was someone that he knew?
So he kept climbing, a little faster now, and then moved the flashlight's beam up to try and get a glimpse of who it was. When he spotted a short girl with pink hair, his first reaction was assuming that it was MOMO. The second thing he noticed was that whoever it was, they seemed to be on their own. That wasn't good!
"MOMO?" he called out, picking up the pace once again. He hoped Kaiji could keep up, and hopefully the man wouldn't mind that Sora was checking up on other patients when they had a clue to follow. It wasn't like he was making them take a detour or anything, so hopefully it would be okay.

When Kaiji noticed Sora speeding up the steps, he figured that either the boy had just picked up a lot of momentum or he'd noticed something. Either way, it was a clear sign that he needed to haul ass to catch up. It probably wasn't like either of them was going to get snatched away as soon as the other stopped looking, but Kaiji wasn't about to take that kind of chance regardless - for him or for Sora.
Overall he was no more than a few seconds behind at any given point, close enough that he caught sight of the girl who Sora was addressing at about the same time as the kid called out what he assumed was the girl's name. Aside from looking a little perplexed, Kaiji really didn't react to her at all. He just sort of stared awkwardly, not saying a word.
She had pink hair.
Weird.

At the sound of her name, the realian paused and looked back over her shoulder, turning on her flashlight so she could see a little better. Once she saw Sora, she smiled, happy to see a familiar face--even if he did seem to be with someone she didn't recognize.
"Hi, Sora!" She turned slightly, waiting for the two to catch up as she clicked the flashlight off again. "It's good to see you again." Considering the type of place this was, it was always a relief to see the people she knew were still okay.

Subaru didn't want to linger in the stairwell--it would be a terribly awkward place to get into a fight--but neither did he want to rush into unknown territory. So he settled for moving slowly, but steadily. He nodded politely to the other patients they passed, though he didn't extend any vocal greeting--noise might attract the attention of monsters.

"I am Yue," he replied in response to Subaru's question, before he as well fell silent when they entered the stairwell. If he recalled correctly, these were the stairs Argilla had avoided the other night, choosing instead to go out of their way to reach the second floor. He wasn't sure why, but perhaps this was one of those places he'd been told of which were prone to monster attacks.
