Only two individuals in the staircase, but otherwise the area was deserted of any treats. Thankfully, he didn't need the light-sticks most humans carried to confirm this. Those odd objects made one quite visible, after all.
There wasn't any sense in lingering, however, so he began climbing the stairs.

She followed after him and also began climbing. It occurred to her that she still didn't know his name. "I must apologize again. I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Elincia. What might yours be?"

"I am called Scar." he answered to her question, pausing his climb for a moment before he added: "A pleasure to meet you, Elincia." Or one should hope. At the very least, this woman seemed to be far better company than some of the others he had ran into up til now as she didn't provide him with a massive headache with a possible lack of brains.
And he glanced up again, trying to determine if there was some sort of fight raging on above. It wouldn't do to walk into one blindly.

She went on up the stairs, looking all around her before reaching the next floor. Scar had said they could be ambushed so it wouldn't hurt to be careful. She just wished she knew exactly what was ambushing people.
