Nightshift 34: M1-10 Hallway

[M1 specifically]The small shinigami padded down the hallway to M1. Clad in her uniform, she blended in well with the darkness until she reached the far end door. There she turned her flashlight on, the light muted by a piece of cloth tied over it, and let it hand from her sash, illuminating the small circle of her immediate area. ( Read more... )

Yuuri blinked and looked around when the announcement was made over the intercom. The laughter was disturbing, to say the least, and Yuuri half worried over the Head Doctor’s sanity. Was this really the man in charge of this ‘so-called’ mental institution? The young Maou thought that the Head Doctor should have really been the one in these patient rooms rather than them - especially if that laughter was anything to go by.

“Alright!” Jumping off the bed Yuuri grinning in determination as he reached out to take his flashlight. “All I need to do is find a proper water source and see if I can open up a portal.”

His movements held a certain amount of enthusiasm in them as he run out of his room and down the hallway.

Kvothe looks toward the radio in his hand and it comes to life, and is almost amused. "And we're supposed to be the insane ones." When the broadcast is over he exchanges it in his coat pocket for the light and pulls it on.

"I don't think so," he says. "You might want your coat, if there are monsters or something out there and we're attacked, it might give a little protection. Better than nothing anyway."

Kvothe shrugged but kept his on. His life was saved by something of the sort once before and he wasn't in the mood to take chances with that.

He followed Tony to the door and turned on his flashlight, nodding. "I think so," he said, glancing out into the darkness beyond. "Lets go."

It wasn't long before Anise reached her first destination. And, quite conveniently, it happened to be in the same hall as her second destination! Things sure worked out nicely sometimes.

The girl stopped in front of the door to M5 and gave it a few enthusiastic knocks. "It's Anise!" she called. "Are you ready?" Considering Ion had a few more things to gather together than she did, it wouldn't be a surprise if he still needed a minute or two. Still, she hoped her quick arrival would at least serve as some reassurance that last night was never going to happen again.

Anise waited patiently by the door, listening to the sounds of shuffling within the room. When Ion finally opened the door, she smiled back at him. It looked to her like he'd grabbed everything they needed, so there was no need to stand around any longer. "Great! Let's get going, then."

Luckily, M1 was a very short walk from M5. Leading the Fon Master, Anise walked down to the Colonel's door.

After using his index finger to scoop up the last remnants of his sleeping roommate's ice cream, Mello tossed the bowl onto the pile of dishes and returned his attention to his journal. He needed to work quickly to get everything finished before his new associates could consider him late, but luckily, working quickly had never been a problem.

As soon as the doors unlocked, Mello ripped out the current page of his journal and folded it, then shoved it into the pocket of his coat along with several smaller pieces of paper and a roll of medical tape. He'd already sorted through the supplies in his closet, separating portions for himself before packing things into a pillowcase to drop off at Usopp's room. Now, all that remained was to get the chemicals from Matt.

It had been a quiet dinner for Roy Mustang; after eating as much of the food as he could stomach while feeling so drained, he had gone to lay down for a bit, trying to rest up before nightshift came. He didn't like the fact that he was still unsure of what he would even be doing, but it all depended on what that item Ashton was going to bring could do.

Anise was also going to drop by for that key, though it was while he was half-asleep that he realized he didn't have the key. His injury had left him a bit out of it all day, but he still felt like a fool for not remembering that. Why had Hinamori Momo never given it back ( ... )

Momo quietly entered and, upon seeing Mustang, bowed to him. "My apologies for not returning this sooner, Colonel," she said while still bowed. "I was confined to my room for half the day and then I did not see you because of the showers. Again, please accept my apologies."

She stayed bowed a moment longer before returning upright. She held out her hand to Mustang, the key sitting on her palm. "It seems, sir, that this key is no longer neccessary. Martin Landel has seen it fit to leave the front doors unlocked now," she informed him, a tiny amount of bitterness slipping into her tone.

Seeing how she had an excuse, he was going to have to hold off on being upset. It hadn't done any damage in the end, so Roy only nodded to her as he took the key back and placed it in his pocket.

The next bit of news took him by surprise, though. He raised an eyebrow, and while he could note that she was almost as bothered about it as he was, he still couldn't hold back his frustration entirely. After all that work to figure out which door it opened, the key held no meaning anymore?

There was still a chance that it might be necessary in the future. Perhaps last night had only been a fluke. He wasn't about to throw it away or anything.

"I see. Thank you for letting me know, and for returning it so promptly tonight," he responded after he had taken a moment to gather his composure.

"Thank you again for letting me borrow it," Momo replied. "My team tonight is once again investigating the grounds outside the front door. Should the door be found locked again, I will leave you a note on the board tomorrow that will simply state 'it is locked' and nothing else."

She wondered if the man Skuld was creating the weapon for had even left his room yet. "Unless there is anything else, I will take my leave."
