[from hereLeon bolted down the hall, Clark close by. The adrenaline that had been pushing him this far was starting to wear off, and he was suddenly very aware of the bleeding wounds in his stomach. And arm. And leg

"Yeah, mostly," Clark said. He could feel the warmth of his blood on his pants leg, but he knew it was nothing compared to last night. For starters, he was pretty conscious this time around and could form sentences. "This door?"
He wasn't entirely sure which door Leon had pointed at. Pointing his flashlight at what he thought was the right door, Clark tried turning the knob. Locked. Hurriedly glancing over at Leon, Clark hunched over the door, shielding it with his body and inserted his finger into the lock, giving it a good poke. The rusted lock popped out with chunk, leaving the door to swing open.
It probably would have been a good idea to wait for his partner once they entered the next hall; Leon wasn't much of a fighter on his own should they run into something. He'd already stated where they should head before he began moving, though, and he expected Kadaj to follow.
He tried the last three doors as he reached them. Each was locked, as he should have expected, and the one on the far left appeared shut tighter than the others. "These?" he asked as he finally stopped.
Clark held open the door for Leon, waiting until he was outside in the hall with him before easing it closed. The first aid kit he'd taken from the room was tucked under one arm, minus the bandages. Was Leon going to be alright? Clark glanced over at him. He couldn't see Leon very well in dim light, especially with his flashlight angled at the floor like this.
Leon followed Clark back out into the hallway, limping a little. He kept his injured arm elevated as best he could, resting it across his stomach. "This should be it," he said, nodding at the door. He approached it, remembering that on his map, it was supposed to be locked. The door was open a crack, though, and Leon thought he could hear voices inside. "Seems like someone beat us to it," he said, with a frown. If only they'd been able to get away from that thing earlier...
Leon paused. If it was a friendly patient, they could probably work something out where everyone got what they wanted, or close to it. If not... Leon didn't much like the idea of fighting someone again. Leon stood outside, hand resting on the door knob, thinking.
It was harder to be bouncy and cheerful about finishing their quick search through these rooms now, but Leon turned back to his partner with a forced smile anyway. "So, what next?" If Kadaj wanted to take the files somewhere safe first, he'd understand.
Leon didn't even offer a har har when Kadaj poked fun at him. The awkwardness was still heavy and he wanted to give his companion a bit more time. They'd go through these rooms quickly and be on their way. Going somewhere new might bring some of the man's spirits back.
He pushed the door to the Patient Possession Storage open slowly, ready to run in case something should jump out at them.
After Vlad's small rant, he was calming down, although for once he'd walked ahead of Daniel, still holding the maps he'd snatched out of Daniel's hand. Then he shoved them back towards the boy, having read enough to remember which door was which.
"Second door on our left is the first storage area. It appears to have been opened already. That's good--monsters in it have probably been killed. We'll check it for flashlights, so the flashlight you lost can be replaced, then move on." Well, not so fast, he'd want to look around to see if there was anything he wanted, too. A weapon that didn't smell like sewage would be a nice start. But he wasn't in the mood to detail his plans, even in small parts, to Danny.
As much as he didn't want to admit it, Vlad's outburst had startled him quite a bit. He had a million things to say in retaliation, but none of them would come out of his mouth just yet. Only when Vlad let go of him and handed the maps back did he figure out how to convert his thoughts into sentences. "We've had this conversation before, Vlad, and I don't like hurting little girls! When have I hurt a little girl without being brainwashed?" He would've continued, but he didn't want to turn a quick outburst into an all-out fight. Vlad may not have noticed it, but Danny still felt guilty for what he did a few nights ago, not just to Vlad, but to everyone involved--the little girl, that man he threw over the balcony, that guy with the shovel...
He sighed quietly. "Sounds like a plan." With that, he took a few steps down the hall, folding the maps into a small packet of paper in his right hand. The door to the janitor's closet was left open, and he peeked in. Once he realized it was safe, he walked into the room.
Then again, chemical weaponry was probably not something he should start developing in front of Daniel. Vlad took a deep breath before offering the flashlight to Daniel. He was curious to see how the younger half-ghost would take it.
"Here. The flashlight you lost, restored. Now if you don't want more conversations like that, perhaps you can keep your blood lust to yourself for the remainder of the evening? I think I've done an excellent job of restraining myself. I realize asking a teenage boy to show the same level of maturity is a bit much, but considering that I'm the one you call a 'fruit loop,' I'd expect you to at least try to rise to my level." The sheer ego in the statement was passed on blandly as fact.
Blood lust? If someone had to say what Danny's motive was, blood lust would not be it. Maybe it would be for Vlad, but certainly not for Danny. Then again, the idea of Vlad being a villain so that he could see people bleed was significantly less creepy than what he actually wanted.
He took the flashlight, trying not to snatch at it in an attempt to keep peace between them. His right hand was already busy with holding the maps, but he held the flashlight regardless. It would take a lot of effort not to drop the flashlight, but he could live with it.
"Ha ha, real funny. If you're done acting like a jealous kid, maybe we can go back." Even if Vlad wasn't acting like a 'jealous kid,' he knew the remark would get on his nerves. If Vlad bugged him, he would bug Vlad back--simple, effective logic. "Or do you have something else to do up here?"
