After Vlad's small rant, he was calming down, although for once he'd walked ahead of Daniel, still holding the maps he'd snatched out of Daniel's hand. Then he shoved them back towards the boy, having read enough to remember which door was which.

"Second door on our left is the first storage area. It appears to have been opened already. That's good--monsters in it have probably been killed. We'll check it for flashlights, so the flashlight you lost can be replaced, then move on." Well, not so fast, he'd want to look around to see if there was anything he wanted, too. A weapon that didn't smell like sewage would be a nice start. But he wasn't in the mood to detail his plans, even in small parts, to Danny.

As much as he didn't want to admit it, Vlad's outburst had startled him quite a bit. He had a million things to say in retaliation, but none of them would come out of his mouth just yet. Only when Vlad let go of him and handed the maps back did he figure out how to convert his thoughts into sentences. "We've had this conversation before, Vlad, and I don't like hurting little girls! When have I hurt a little girl without being brainwashed?" He would've continued, but he didn't want to turn a quick outburst into an all-out fight. Vlad may not have noticed it, but Danny still felt guilty for what he did a few nights ago, not just to Vlad, but to everyone involved--the little girl, that man he threw over the balcony, that guy with the shovel...

He sighed quietly. "Sounds like a plan." With that, he took a few steps down the hall, folding the maps into a small packet of paper in his right hand. The door to the janitor's closet was left open, and he peeked in. Once he realized it was safe, he walked into the room.

Then again, chemical weaponry was probably not something he should start developing in front of Daniel. Vlad took a deep breath before offering the flashlight to Daniel. He was curious to see how the younger half-ghost would take it.

"Here. The flashlight you lost, restored. Now if you don't want more conversations like that, perhaps you can keep your blood lust to yourself for the remainder of the evening? I think I've done an excellent job of restraining myself. I realize asking a teenage boy to show the same level of maturity is a bit much, but considering that I'm the one you call a 'fruit loop,' I'd expect you to at least try to rise to my level." The sheer ego in the statement was passed on blandly as fact.

Blood lust? If someone had to say what Danny's motive was, blood lust would not be it. Maybe it would be for Vlad, but certainly not for Danny. Then again, the idea of Vlad being a villain so that he could see people bleed was significantly less creepy than what he actually wanted.

He took the flashlight, trying not to snatch at it in an attempt to keep peace between them. His right hand was already busy with holding the maps, but he held the flashlight regardless. It would take a lot of effort not to drop the flashlight, but he could live with it.

"Ha ha, real funny. If you're done acting like a jealous kid, maybe we can go back." Even if Vlad wasn't acting like a 'jealous kid,' he knew the remark would get on his nerves. If Vlad bugged him, he would bug Vlad back--simple, effective logic. "Or do you have something else to do up here?"

"Jealous of what? Your inability to hold onto one of the few items we're given in this place?" Vlad seemed to have restored his sense of balance after the little outburst, and was now acting as though he'd been calm and content the entire trip. "No, my business up here was simply assisting you, Daniel. And now that we have completed that, I believe that we should return to the rooms, before you harm yourself."

He gestured graciously towards the staircase. "Shall we be off?"
