Nightshift 32: M91-100 Hallway

May 30, 2008 09:31

Sync slipped out of his room without a sound, pressing up against the wall as he listened for anything within the hallway. Even after what he’d read on the bulletin the God-General couldn’t afford to make stupid mistakes, treading cautiously until he was absolutely sure that nothing else was lingering there alongside him ( Read more... )

Brooklyn stepped outside his room cautiously, shovel in both hands. He was wearing one of the robe-like garments from the closet, as they had pockets that could be useful. Even if he managed to get around to grabbing up metal tonight, however, it would probably weigh the thing down something fierce.

He also had on a pair of slippers - the ones that covered more of the feet. There was no special reason for this... he'd just never worn shoes before, and he wanted to see how it felt.

Another glance around and he was moving on.

Fayt was quick to slip from his room as the lights went out. His roommate wasn't all that talkative that night which left the young man with nothing to do but get ready for the shift in, well, everything Fayt had a feeling that saying only the atmosphere changed at night would be the understatement of the century. With that out of the way, he was free to leave to look for Albel.

Not that Albel was going to be overjoyed at seeing him.

After sleeping for several hours, Mason felt as refreshed as her was likely to. A swig of the whiskey he'd stolen last night helped, too.

Oh, fuck. He had to meet that bloke in the Game Room, didn't he? Fuckety fucking fuck.

Rubbing his face blearily, the reaper rummaged around under his mattress until he found the doll. In the process, he managed to stick himself on one of his syringes. Bloody fuck. Oh, there was that little jar of whatever-it-was. He decided to bring that along. Maybe he could smash it in the guy's face. Or use it himself. He had no fucking clue what it did, but it wasn't like it could kill him, right?

For the first time since he'd gotten it, Mason remembered the switchblade. That would be handy if there was going to be a fight over this bloody doll.

All of this went into his pants, along with Gone With The Wind. He wished he still had a flashlight, but oh well. He'd manage fine groping his way along - he had last night.

It was night. Just like before when someone else had joined him for dinner, they'd gone by the time night came; he found himself in an empty room. Not that it really mattered or anything. With flashlight and map in tow, Haseo eased his way out into the hallway. This time he'd purposefully thought of a direction of where to go and with the door to the room open, he was going to get there. No excuses this time.

"All right." He said aloud, glancing up and down the empty hallway. This would be just like a dungeon run, except in a lot more ..strange and sarcastic manner. All he had to do was keep the goal in mind and grind through the levels until he got where he wanted to go. Just like The World, just as easily. There was no reason to think of it any differently.

"Guess it's time to get going." Without any more inflection on the matter, Haseo set out.

Even though he had been told to expect it, Allelujah was still surprised when he heard the click of the lock opening and the eerie message from the Head Doctor, so different to the cheerful intercom announcements during the daytime. They were definitely adding weight to people's insistance that this place wasn't as it seemed.

He stared at the door for a few confused moments until Fai left with a backwards wave at him and slipped outside into the corridor. Even then, he wasn't sure whether he should move or not. There was still that lingering doubt and his wariness about hospital staff. If he'd been caught out of bed back then, it would have meant more tests, and children disappeared at night.

Finally though, Allelujah stood, setting aside the tray and examining the room for anything useful. Nothing sharp, not that he'd expected it, but there was a torch under the pillow and batteries in the drawer. Pens too. He could probably stab something with those if he needed to I canHe grabbed the bundle of them and slipped them into his waist ( ... )
