Farfarello strode through the door, scowling darkly. He hated this crap. His ribs had better be in good shape by tomorrow night, because he was not working with amateurs again, no way. He wanted back with his team, even if it meant going to the basement instead of where he wanted to go. Anything was better than this.
Was everyone in this fucking place a chatterbox? This other group was even worse than the kiddies--talking, talking, they might as well be holding a blinking neon sign that said, 'hey monsters, humans over here, come and get us!'
Faust moved along quietly, listening for danger and keeping an eye on the children. He's twitched slightly at the mention of the mourge, but with luck it had gone unnoticed. He was feeling rather bland at the moment, willing to go along with whatever. The drugs were flowing along in his system nicely.
The former doctor allowed a small smile to flicker across his face as he followed Farfarello.
His question had been completely ignored, and Sora was making a face as he followed the two men through the door. He noticed the other group of three, but they were all strangers to him. (Maybe it would have been better to join up with them, though, considering how these other two patients had turned out to be.)
Since Sora wasn't sure if the two even knew where they were going, he turned to Rena and spoke to her in a hushed tone, figuring he didn't need to make matters worse. "So, where do we need to go from here?" If it did turn out that the other two were going somewhere else entirely, they could always break off again.
There was a group of three in this corridor, but they seemed fairly lax compared to the current company. In any case, Rena couldn't help but smile a bit watching them.
Her attention immediately returned to the task at hand when she heard Sora ask a question. "Oh, uh..." She glanced at the two men ahead before whispering back, "The very last door there is to the morgue, which leads to two autopsy rooms." If there was anything of value, it would lie there.
"I don't think it works like that here, Anya," Angel said, trying to ease any potential sting from Anya's not-so-subtle words toward Willow. "Keep your voice down."
Someone was going to have to fill him in on what'd happened some day. Properly fill him in, that was. Anya's somewhat nonsensical version didn't count.
He could hear how loose the lock was in Anya's grip and this time, the door gave way under a solid kick.
[and coming back once again. linking with permission from Angel-mun]
The hallway wasn't any different than when they first came through, thankfully. Willow wasn't sure what it was, but the place just seemed like the kind where hallways switched up on you a lot. Having everything match the map she held was helpful. Heck, with her past Scooby adventures, having a map at all was a luxury she wasn't used to.
"Okay. According to this, the morgue's that way," she said, pointing to their left. "There should be a door down there," she quickly added, since the hallway appeared to come to a dead-end.
Anya stopped in the hallway to rearrange her possessions more. Carrying sword, flashlight, and bag was far more difficult than it should be - not because anything was too heavy, thanks to her sort-of-intact demonic strength, but because she only had two hands and two of the things she was carrying were rather dangerous.
"Okay, someone needs to carry my flashlight," Anya said, aiming a grouchy tone of voice at the offending flashlight. Trying to hold both the sword and the bag in one hand, which was ungainly, the vengeance demon trust her flashlight at Angel, fully expecting him to take it.
Peony continued his approach to the north hallway, confident that he knew where he was going. He'd come up here a few nights ago and not forgotten what had happened here yet. And while the prospect of a horrible monster with a horrible smell making him throw up all over the place again didn't sound very cool at all, he was certain he could get these strapping young men to take a few hits for him.
Peony was less than easy to anger, and easygoing in most every sense. So when the other two started talking behind his back, Peony just chuckled. "Oh, you guys. It wasn't just any old guard, of course!" His eyes turned stony as he turned back to Haseo, eyeing him with an almost uncharacteristic seriousness - which might be a little surprising to those who didn't really know him. It was his emperor's face. "Keep your guard up
( ... )
What Siegfried has said was probably true: the whole comment about the two being "combat-honed" made it seem like the both of them were being toted around just for their own abilities in that area. How Peony could have known about himself being skilled that way, though, would just be wild conjecture on his own part. It was true that there were strength in sheer numbers so maybe their guide was abiding by that principle.
A pause in his step followed the blonde's turn back to him with the unusually icy stare. Haseo didn't know the man well so he wasn't completely startled by the sudden odd change in demeanor, but it surely didn't go unnoticed. (Personalities of others doing a complete hundred-and-eighty degree flip was hard not to notice.) The strange mannerisms didn't stop with just an uncharacteristic expression or tone of voice, but continued as Peony gave him titles and or asked him of places that he had never even heard. "Rouge Fabre?" What in the world was a Fabre
( ... )
This was new. One minute Peony was his usual cheerful easy-going self, and the next he was actually being serious. He couldn’t be sure exactly what caused the change, but from the way Peony was addressing Haseo, it was something to do with the white-haired young man.
Listening to the exchange, Siegfried realised that Peony must believe that Haseo was from his world, and judging from Haseo’s confusion, he apparently wasn’t. Siegfried kept quiet for the time being, leaving Peony to explain.
Peony paused for a moment, looking Haseo in the eye. ...Then his face softened just like that, and he started to laugh. He'd just made a little bit of a fool out of himself, hadn't he? "Hahaha, they're countries. Sorry about that. You sound so much like a pal of mine that I thought you were a replica. I mean, you don't look quite the same, but you know replica technology these days, making replicas that are so alike that they're different.."
He shrugged, pushing into the next room, finding it already unlocked. Damn! People had probably beaten them to the fat loot! Or killed the monster guard - there was no sound coming from inside, no sign of battle. There was no time to waste! He'd keep talking once he got inside.
From the prior night, Aidou knew, at least, that the morgue seemed to be connected to two autopsy rooms, which then opened up to the makeshift laboratory. So, it was fair to assume that if he started at the morgue, he could simply work his way down. The animal kennel begged a re-visit, after all. Smelly and disgusting though it was.
The vampire sidestepped the lone group in the hall, recognizing the two kiddies--Sora and Rena, right?--as they broke away and started to head towards the door of the morgue, too.
The morgue itself seemed to still be locked too. Great.
... But it wasn't like it took a lot to break doors down.
Their time spent with the men was cut short, but Rena didn't mind. In fact, she was grateful to end the temporary partnership. They could now focus on their task instead of worrying about stepping on people's toes. It wasn't as though they could avoid that situation anyway, considering one of the men's crotchety attitude. (Probably would have yelled at the duo if they had chosen to pass by.)
So when Sora gave her the "I'm sorry" look, she merely smiled, indicating no harm had been done.
With a simple nod to the two men, Rena stepped after Sora as they headed toward the door at the far end of the hall. The intercom, however, cackled to life at that moment, and the girl slowed her pace to catch the Head Doctor's message. What she heard caused her to stop dead in her tracks. The Alec Doyle was in a cold storage case just a few feet away from them?
She gaped at Sora like an idiot. "Wait," she started. "He's... He's here?"
In the end, no harm was really done. Sora made a note to avoid that one man from now on - he didn't like judging people so harshly, but there was no reason to put him under that sort of patronizing attitude again.
Heading down the hall with Rena, Sora had been preparing to ignore the intercom announcement when it came on. None of it really mattered in the end, did it? Still, he couldn't help catching the mention of the morgue, and what that meant for them.
Sora had never seen the radio man in person, so he wouldn't be able to recognize the body if he did see it, but the knowledge was troubling nonetheless. Rena seemed bothered enough about it, after all. "I... guess so," he responded, looking uncertain. "We can go somewhere else if you want?"
He noticed the other patient a little ahead of them, wondering if this new development would affect him as well.
Aidou cocked his head owlishly for a minute, blinking off the growing beams of light as the two came closer. He felt more like himself when he had a little blood in him--that didn't mean he was any more patient, kind, or calm, of course. Stupid, annoying flashlights. But the reoccurring headache had lessened, and he felt a little less like a fetid imitation of the proper Aidou. The vampire couldn't very well single out someone like Rena at the moment, but maybe he should consider draining another girl soon...
The only thing about their topic of conversation that plucked at his attention was the possibility that, just maybe, there'd be an interest for prisoners to come piling in to see the body themselves. Now that would just be a pain.
"If it's true, then be prepared for any other surprises if you choose to go in," spoke up Aidou, rather amiably given the situation. His foot connected with the door, rattling the lock loudly. This was beginning to be a habit. Second kick should break it.
"It looks like someone got here before us," Edgeworth said as they approached their destination. "It makes things easier, though, now that we don't have to worry about the lock. I just hope they left something behind for us."

He headed down to the end of the hall, expecting to have to bust down another door but finding it already open instead. That was helpful.
