Day 30: Men's Showers (Fourth Shift)

Feb 20, 2008 12:04

As though his conversation during the last shift hadn't been terrible enough... the way that girl had treated him like a child, it was just another nail in the coffin to be herded along to the showers with all the other children.  Allen knew he must be dirty, but he was far from enthusiastic about the idea of public nudity.

When he arrived, ( Read more... )

Haku smiled at the nurse who ushered him into the showers. He wasn't worried about it, thankful he was deemed well enough to actually be allowed to bathe on his own.

After stipping and stepping infront of a shower head, he turned the water on and looked down at himself. A massive bruise covered his left side and back, but it was turning that ugly green/yellow at the edges that said it was healing. He was lucky to even be alive and so felt rather pleased by the marks. At least they didn't activly hurt.

He doubted Zabuza-san would feel the same though....

[free for threading ^_^]

Frey had been quite happy when they told him it was time for washing up, but once the nurse led him into the bathing area he found himself quite disappointed. He'd been hoping for a nice, relaxing bath, but this seemed to be something quite different.

Surreptitiously eyeing the people around him, Frey learned that turning the knobs on the wall caused water to fall from a metal contraption higher up. It seemed relatively simple, so he chose a spot and experimented with the gadget. At first he got a shock of icy water, but with a little more fiddling he managed to get the temperature nice and warm.

Convenient things, these 'showers', but not nearly as pleasant as a bath.

[available for pestering]

Having to leave his cane behind with his clothes made Leon distinctly unhappy. It would be nice to get clean, yes, but being unable to walk away from any moron who decided to pester him sucked. Well, hopefully people would leave him alone for a change.

After wrenching the shower knobs around to the desired temperature, Leon started washing his hair, wrinkling his nose at the smell of the shampoo.

"Sean, come HERE!"

"If you think you're going to get me to set one foot inside that bacteria-riddled, public health violation, you obviously not been paying attention for the last six days!" Artemis' nurse had him by the waist, while the boy was clinging desperately to his wheelchair. He'd rather die than bathe in public. Meanwhile, Nurse Hedgerow couldn't understand why Sean was so lively. He'd been drugged only a few hours ago--surely the drugs hadn't already worn off?

Finally, she had an orderly yank the chair away and she dragged a livid Artemis Fowl through the doorway. One might liken the experience to bathing a cat, complete with similar expression of the intended victim.

At least she let him undress himself. He firmly refused to change while there were other people looking, so he forced Nurse Hedgerow to hold a towel up so he could strip in private. She especially was forbidden to look. When he was done, he snatched the towel from her hands and wrapped it firmly around his waist ( ... )

Christopher. That was what they referred to that ninja from the Village Hidden in the Mist, wasn't it? Haku. Sai heard the name as he made his way to his own shower, from a boy that he'd definitely seen around but never spoken to. The way he dismissed the nurse's question inferred that he did in fact know Haku, if they were referring to the same "Christopher", and that left the leaf ninja mildly curious.

Even more curious were the words written on the boy in what looked to be ink. It wasn't likely the same ink that Sai himself used for his ninjutsu, but he was interested to find out where it came from all the same. Any leads on how he might be able to use his techniques here...

He could have started off with any number of questions as he made his way over to the boy, but attempting to be polite was usually the best way to start off a conversation that he wanted to go anywhere. So he began with a basic "Hello."

"Agk!" Artemis tightened the towel around him, trying to hide from whoever was talking to him.

"H-hello... Nice... shower room, isn't it?" He kept walking, hoping his ass was covered, literally. He didn't want someone watching him scrub the words off of his... body. He didn't want someone looking at him while he bathed at all.

"Is it?" Sai glanced briefly around the room before returning his attention to Artemis and smiling. He would have thought the arrangement a bit sparse for some, but to each his own. He had no opinion on the matter, after all.

But down to business. "The nurse mentioned the name Christopher. She was referring to Haku of the Mist Village, wasn't she?" This was the most important matter - establishing allies. Questions about the unusual ink writing could come later. One might have thought this was because Sai wanted to save Artemis some embarrassment, but that particular thought hadn't even crossed the ninja's mind.

"Hey, thanks babe~" Heiji said, taking the towel his nurse offered and proceeding to strip down in front of her. It wasn't all that hard. Shirt, sweatpants... oh right, bandages.

Heiji's nurse carefully removed the delicate wrappings. Fortunately, the teen detective had removed the scalpels he'd shoved down there during the riot while waiting for Tyler to wake up. It was quite the ordeal, but eventually all of the bandages were removed from Heiji's arms, neck, torso and legs. Was there a part of him that wasn't bandaged ( ... )

Ritsuka didn't mind public bathing, except for the fact that he was injured at the moment. Thankfully here people probably wouldn't pay too much attention to the bruises and how they were more like fists and scratches than monster bites and claw marks. His nurse waited while he undressed and then removed the bandages carefully one by one. Ritsuka waited for a minute before he finally shoved her hands off and did it himself, ripping the final one off his face with a grimace ( ... )

"Heee?" Heiji raised a thick eyebrow at the kid who'd just suddenly, out of nowhere, walked up to him and gave him lip. What the hell had he done to deserve that? There wasn't a square inch of his body un-mauled by cat claws--of course hot water was going to hurt.

His eyes narrowed at the kid in question, taking in his injuries. Well, Heiji was no expert on battery cases, but he knew when someone was being shoved around. Unless there was a monster he didn't know about that just beat their victim to death.

"Obviously my voice echoes in here, kid. 'S a tile room," He shot back. "'F y'don't like it, I'm sure the lovely ladies over there would be happy t'escort you to the carpeted shower room." He snickered and shook the wet hair out of his face. "Nice ta meetcha, too, by the way."

Ritsuka had heard about the differences between Osaka and Tokyo, but he hadn't put a lot of weight into them. Stereotypes were horrible things to believe in and they were often based on some small part of the populace and not representative of the whole at all.

Apparently, Ritsuka was wrong.

Smart-mouthed and loud - the joys of Kansai. Ritsuka started washing his neck and shoulders, careful not to press too hard on the bruises sprinkled here and there. "Any idiot knows when hot water hits wounds like yours it'll sting, so why did you go shoving hot water on yourself?"

He paused and gave Heiji a look before he went back to his shower. "Yeah, same. Aoyagi Ritsuka. You?"
