Day 30: Men's Showers (Third Shift)

Feb 17, 2008 23:46

The lockdown had been interesting. The fact that the staff had enough power to put down a rebellion that quickly and then lock people into their rooms just as fast was something of a feat to be admired. Their efficiency would have been much more impressive if Okita had been on the other side of it, however. As it stood, he had to keep his ( Read more... )

There must have been some commotion going on in the morning, since Luke had been woken up by a shrill announcement and bells, but he honestly was too tired to really care or notice at the moment. Actually, he wasn't so much tired as he was just in pain. It was an extremely strange feeling - like his skeleton was still vibrating from what happened last night. It hurt, everything hurt, and even his throat hurt when he tried to ask the nurse where he was going.

The shower room apparently, since Luke could feel the warm mist through the air as he reached his destination. It felt really nice, actually, so Luke was rather grateful that he woke up in time (more like, was woken up) for the shower shift.

Of course, that's if he could actually... stand long enough.

It was a rather hard feat, but Luke managed to keep standing as he turned on the water, flinching as a hot steam of water splashed all over him. It did feel really nice though, and Luke leaned against the wall and just let the warm water rain down on him as he tried to get his ( ... )

Archer was forcefully herded into men's bathroom by the nurses like some kind of cattle. This place was continuing to rub him the wrong way. As soon as he had been getting information from Sparda they had been interrupted by the orderlies. He was beginning to wonder if he would ever get to have a decent conversation long enough to find out everything that was going on ( ... )

Someone had taken the shower next to him, but Luke didn't seem to notice at first as he slowly lathered some soap into his hands. The poor boy looked like a zombie, staring vacantly at the wall for some time. But in actuality, Luke was just trying to catch snippets of conversation as his mind cleared. He remembered that weird announcement now, the one that woke him up - something about a Lockdown? He wasn't getting much information just listening though...

"Uh..." Luke mumbled, trying to get the other guy's attention. He wasn't sure if other people were as embarrassed as he was when it came to shower conversations. "Did something ... happen this morning? I heard some alarms and stuff but I was in my room."

Archer in fact, wasn't embarrassed at all. Even though he had intended to gather information he didn't see the harm in giving out some that wouldn't harm him.

"Yeah, in the cafeteria there was a big fight," spoke Archer as he washed his hair. "It started with some girl going batshit crazy on the staff. Things only got worse from there when some other patients jumped in. In the end the staff sedated them, so they're all in la-la land right about now."

Fools. That's what they get for jumping in half-baked like that.

He let shower water and his fingers rinse out his hair before moving on to soap. Note to self: don't drop the soap.

"I'm Archer by the way. Normally I think people shake hands during an introduction, but I think we can make an exception here."

[free for pestering]Nakago was quite impressed, to say the least. How quickly their captors had stepped in to subdue the riot! They had moved like a trained unit, pulling them apart and escorting people to their designated rooms. Unfortunately, his roommate had been fast asleep during their lockdown, and thus he was unable to gain more information about this facility from him. He had, however, taken the time to recall everything he had learned the night before, including the number that had been written on the door to his cell, as it was ( ... )

It seemed that while this place took many considerations for its patients, showering daily wasn't one of them, so Gin would take whatever opportunity he could. He was still a little sour that the nurses had taken back the keys he'd found, but it didn't show on his face. As usual, a sly, fox-like grin curved around his lips, directed at no one in particular, but there all the same.

He had a few things weighing on his mind, but he didn't mind taking the time to relax once in a while either. For once he wasn't going to have to have a tense conversation with Abarai in the showers, which seemed a pleasant enough escape. Gin found a free shower-head near an unfamiliar blond. He gave a smile and wave as he turned the knob on his own shower, though he wasn't sure the man had seen the gesture. "Mornin'" he offered, though it was getting later in the day. "Ain't seen ya 'round here before. You new?"

The idea of communal bathing was not a foreign concept to the general, no. He, however, preferred to do such things alone and had not anticipated anybody else joining him. Thus, he was properly startled when he heard a painfully unfamiliar voice from somewhere nearby. A frown was all he allowed himself, however, as he turned his eyes in the other man's direction, studying him for a moment before turning back to his shower, such as it was.

"I am," Nakago replied, reaching for the soap and proceeding to clean himself at long last. "I was brought here last night."

"Pity that," he commented, taking careful note of the man's behavior and tone of voice. It was almost second nature, analyzing the reactions of others, it made them so much easier to predict later on.

Gin let the water run over his head for a moment, then slicked back his short, silvery hair. "Night certainly ain't the best time t'arrive," he added. Breakfast hadn't been a much better time to arrive though, at least, not for him. He'd still managed to get banged up pretty well that shift.

"M' Ichimaru Gin," he offered, his tone friendly.

The excitement had all but passed by the time Kikyo awoke from his restless slumber. Yet even so, he could sense the tension in the tightly knit brow of his usually cheerful caretaker who came to fetch him after some time had passed since lockdown.

She appeared tired, and more than once seemed to suppress a sigh through the course of their forced conversation. He would almost feel sorry for her, but all he could offer was a pale smile that was as empty as his heart.

"It's been quite a morning."

"Yes...so I heard," Kikyo replied. "But I trust you have everything under control by now."

"Thank you, I think we do." She led him down the corridor toward the showers, probably thankful that her charge at least was well behaved. "I'll leave you here, then. You'll find towels and everything else you'll need right inside."

"Thank you."

Inside, Kikyo found an empty shower head and turned it on, letting the stream of hot water run down over his body, his raven locks damp and long across his back.

The bad part about public showers was it was pretty much a giant sausage-fest.

Brock wasn't that bad himself. But it'd be damn gay to be looking at everyone else ass-naked and he prided himself on being (mostly) straight. Whatever they felt for Parker? Didn't count.

The blond choose an available shower, reaching out and turning the hand. Cold water sprayed out, causing an instinctive flinch. He didn't adjust it. It was unpleasant at first, but the symbiote preferred cold things and seeing as it was just about back on its feet, Brock figured it could use a little treat. If you could even call a cold shower that. Glancing around discreetly, Brock kept an eye out for either Kasady or Parker.

[ I'm assuming this is okay? ]

Seeing the different patients being led around in their drug-induced stupors with two of those orderlies watching them like hawks, Peter was once again reminded of how good of an idea it had been to just not pitch in at breakfast. Not that he ever would have, but it was good to see that he had done the right thing, since going along with the staff did leave him feeling a little guilty.

As Peter headed into the showers, he tried not to think about how long it had been since he'd last had one. He didn't get why the institute deprived them of getting clean, especially since they fed them so well.

It did cut down on the awkward communal situations, at least. Once Peter was undressed, he kept his towel around his waist as he tried to get through the room toward one of the unoccupied shower heads. He happened to catch sight of Eddie on the way, which made him pause for a second before continuing on his way at a faster pace. Now he just had to hope he wasn't seen.

And it would've worked if Brock was just a normal human. His symbiote sensed Parker before he did, seeing as his back was turned - he was busy looking down because he was busy making care their junk was clean even if his Other didn't think it was a necessary "organ" - and he found his head had swiveled around to track Parker before he even knew what he was looking at.

Oh.

Oh.

Naked, Parker was stripped down to what he really was. Not some nerdy little college kid, hiding behind his camera. Not Spider-man, in those tights that didn't leave much to the imagination. There was just Peter Parker, nice and toned and without anything in-between. Brock turned on his heel and within a few quick strides, came up to Parker and slung a wet arm around his shoulder.

"Hey," he said, and it wasn't friendly at all.

Peter had known that there was no way he could be lucky enough to actually dodge Eddie in the showers. Last time that other man who was infected with a symbiote had decided to come over, so his horrible luck dictated that it was Eddie's turn this time. Couldn't he just shower in peace?

There wasn't much he could do as the other man headed over. They were in a crowded room with a wet floor, and trying to quickly move in the other direction could easily end in some sort of disaster, whether it was crashing into another patient or slipping on the tile.

So he tried to keep his cool as Eddie looped his arm around his shoulder, gritting his teeth when he felt cold water drip down his back. He noticed that Eddie wasn't sedated or flanked by orderlies, though, which meant he hadn't gotten involved in the riot at breakfast. That was unexpected.

Frowning, he shrugged away from the other man and sent him a dubious look. "What do you want?"

[RENJI CAN HAS NEKKID TIME WITH DAEMON NAOW YES? XD]

Renji was slightly relieved that so little time had gone by in the room. Though it was also disheartening to think that a full-blown riot had been squashed that quickly. He was less than pleased about being herded into the showers, though. Normally he was happy for every shower he got. After a youth spent marinating in dirt and his own sweat, he loved baths and showers far more than he was willing to admit. But at this point, he would have much preferred to have seen that Rukia was okay and just deal with being a little smelly. But he didn't get a choice.

He stripped off his clothing quickly, intending to take the shortest, most perfunctory shower possible. He picked the nearest shower head that had some room around it - he still didn't want to get crowded - and turned it on, facing the wall.

Daemon's solitary shift had been both long and timeless - the effects of the drug lingering slightly still as an orderly escorted him forcefully from his room to the showers, before retreating a few steps away, giving him a false semblance of privacy as he stripped and moved into the shower.

His movements slow and sluggish, he made his way to an empty spot in the room and turned the water on, stepping under the spray - for once, taking no noticed of who or what was around him. He still felt in a daze and hoped the water would help wash some of the fog away.

Renji looked over when he saw someone coming up next to him. He wasn't sure if he was relieved or not that it was Daemon and that he seemed to be okay. He still wasn't entirely that happy about being naked around the guy.

After a moment, he cleared his throat, reaching to get some shampoo. "How's the head?" he asked. He'd seen Daemon get sedated, after all.

It took a long moment for Daemon to realize someone had spoken to him. Turning his head, he peeked one eye open to peer at the redhead beside him in confusion.

Where had Renji come from?

"What?" he asked, his voice only slightly slurred from the remaining drugs in his system. He shook his head, trying to clear it, and sent water droplets flying in every direction.
