Day 30: Men's Showers (Third Shift)

Feb 17, 2008 23:46

The lockdown had been interesting. The fact that the staff had enough power to put down a rebellion that quickly and then lock people into their rooms just as fast was something of a feat to be admired. Their efficiency would have been much more impressive if Okita had been on the other side of it, however. As it stood, he had to keep his ( Read more... )

[Feel free to bug him. :)]For once Aya was happy to know he'd be making acquaintance with a shower head and some soap. He didn't care that it meant sharing the same privilege with half of the patience at Landel's, he just wanted to clean himself up. If few nights of fighting had not made him feel dirty enough, the cold killer's intent at the cafeteria just a moment ago had ( ... )

[Free to annoy. :X]

Ugh, finally. Another precious waste of his time, that Lockdown was. Not-Noah hadn't bothered saying a thing, as it were, leaving X to continue with his card games in silence.

How boring.

But now there was a shower to be had, so the blond rejoiced in at least that. He made quick work of pealing off his clothing and... noticing a few bruises on his person from the night before. ...terrific. As quietly as he could, Luxord slipped into an empty area and turned on the water, enjoying the feel of it on his skin.

And he couldn't help but glare across the room at VIII, as if he knew what the other Nobody had told to his nurse.

[free for bothering~]

So much for keeping to himself. Evidently, the institute was insistent on denying him any time spent alone. At least the nurse hadn't pushed him towards anyone in particular like she had this morning.

Still, Angel couldn't say no to a shower, so with a sigh, he headed for an area furthest away from the others. The white noise from the spraying water wasn't as good as silence, but it dimmed enough of the conversations around him for him to think.

Hopefully, no one would try to strike up some small talk with him. He didn't think anyone would actually want to, but sometimes people did for some reason.

Finally, thank the ancestors, a shower!

Valyn didn't even honestly care that he was showering with dozens of others, or that he had to bathe himself. He just wanted a chance to wash the grime away. And it was still better than the facilities in the Old Citadel.

He did move somewhat away from the main group, taking a shower next to a man who looked like he belonged in the gladiator arena. What was the etiquette in these situations?

"I hope you don't mind?" he ventured, not wanting to intrude on the man, but not wanting to be rude, either.

Angel was in the middle of eyeing the supposed shampoo dispenser with mild bemusement (wasn't it usually just supposed to be hand soap in those things? Or maybe not; he hadn't set foot in a public bathroom in a long time) when a voice spoke up beside him.

He turned around. "Oh." Surprised, he blinked once. "No. Not at all."

"Thank you." Valyn turned on the faucet and stepped back, to allow the water to heat some. "I didn't want to intrude. And I'm afraid I'm not certain what the etiquette is for showering in public." He smiled, his usual charming smile, and stepped beneath the spray.

"I'm Valyn," he offered, deciding he should at least give his name. Considering they were conversing together naked, names were the very least that could be exchanged.

[Waiting for Schuldig]

Well, at least his roommate seemed to be a decent guy, someone Yohji wouldn't mind sharing with. And they were both hiding things from what he could tell which meant neither of them was likely to pry too much. It was a definite relief.

He stripped off quickly and found a shower where he could keep an eye on as many people as possible, as well as watching the door surrepticiously in case Cliff came in. He just needed to get rid of this ominous feeling that CLiff's words had left in him.

He stepped under the spray and sighed softly in bliss as the hot water soaked his bruised body. Damn, he'd got a few more than he'd thought and a few of them were really dark and already turning a sickly yellow at the edges.

"Hey."

Whether by accident or design, Yohji had picked a relatively secluded location for a shower, as far from the supervising orderlies as possible. It wasn't exactly concealed, but there were a lot of people and showers between them and the nearest orderly, which meant they might be able to get away with some interesting things...

Of course, Schuldig would probably have to get any intriguing activities out of the way quickly, before the subject of Cliff came up. He knew Yohji would brood about that; he hardly needed an excuse for brooding, and one of his friends disappearing was a damned good excuse. But he couldn't resist the chance to continue what they'd started the last time they'd met in the showers...

Schuldig's voice shook Yohji out of his increasingly worried thoughts. He smiled tiredly at the other man and nodded. It felt odd to not be snapping at Schuldig now, but he preferred it. Not to mention that he was too tired and sore to want to get into a fight that he couldn't win. Or any fight for that matter.

"Hey. I see you're in one piece and unsedated," he said, a wry note in his voice. Not that he'd really have expected Schuldig to jump into the fray anyway.

"To an extent," Schuldig replied, running fingers over the bandage on his cheek. He was pretty sure he had stitches under there, but he hadn't yet given in to the impulse to pull off the gauze and check. (Crawford and Farfarello would both smack him if he tried - they both knew better than to let Schuldig possibly infect his wound, and truthfully so did Schuldig, but the telepath had never been known for his ability to resist his urges). "It could be worse."

The redhead stepped closer, reaching up and now running fingers over Yohji's cheek instead. "What about you? You look exhausted. Has the anticipation been wearing you out?" He smirked.

So he'd be in the adult showers while Luffy and Usopp were in the kids' showers? While he supposed there was a separation in maturity level there, it still seemed a bit wrong somehow. He took the opportunity to ask his nurse where the women would be showering, but the man just scoffed at him and threw him a towel before walking off.

A shower would be good anyway. He could use the opportunity to relax after coming to realize exactly how sparse his smoke breaks would be from now on. He'd pretty much known from the start, but the last shift had just cemented it.

With a sigh, he found himself a free shower and twisted the knob. It was actually something of a surprise to him to see how quickly the water went from cold to warm. Not bad.

It seemed all of breakfast's violence had been sorted through by the time the lockdown had ended. The institute had dealt with things quickly and efficiently. Obi-Wan had expected no less from their captors ( ... )

Sanji had finally caught sight of Zoro, and oddly enough it appeared that the swordsman hadn't been sedated either. That was unexpected. Though admittedly, the way the whole shitty riot had come about he wouldn't be surprised if the former pirate hunter had just as little chance as he had to react to everything. (He knew it definitely wasn't because he'd wanted to help the nurses.)

Interestingly enough, the man who joined him in the showers seemed to be thinking along similar lines if his question was anything to judge by. In response, the chef just muttered a bit to the affirmative. He was enjoying the warm water far too much to be easily distracted from it, head tilted back to meet the current face on.

At last he pulled out of it a bit, skin slightly pink from the temperature of the water, and actually glanced over at the man who wanted to make conversation. "Should've been one of them, by all rights."

Obi-Wan wasn't put off by the delayed response. As the blond stranger enjoyed the water, he was busy lathering soap up in his short hair. It'd been several days since he'd lost his Padawan braid (no, he reminded himself, since he'd been knighted), and it was times like these that the absence of its familiar weight was very noticeable.

When the man finally spoke, Obi-Wan glanced over at him. "Oh, I don't know. I can understand the need to do something productive, but I don't think getting sedated would have brought about that kind of satisfaction. Do you?"

It was then he caught sight of Qui-Gon, talking to a blond young man. He didn't appear to be injured or drugged in anyway, but, of course, that came as no surprise. Despite how much it pained him to see Qui-Gon trapped in a place like this, he was certainly grateful his friend had enough wisdom and restraint not to go looking for unnecessary trouble.

Well, most of the time, anyway.
