Nightshift 29: M51-M60 Hallway

Jan 18, 2008 12:46

This was no night to be lingering; Aidou sealed up M52 in his usual fashion and left hurriedly enough. He ignored the intercom beyond noting, with not a little suspicion, that 'wandered off' meant the usual babbling idiot was possibly planning something else. Who knew. The disgusting, rasping nurse's words weren't worth thinking on ( Read more... )

Shadow was growing restless waiting for the sound of Valyn's magic. He hadn't seen the elf since lunch and it felt odd not being around him for a long period of time, especially when that time wasn't filled with preparing for battle. None of the information he had gathered today made him feel any better. In fact, it had only cemented what Valyn had been trying to tell him all along. Landel's was a hopelessly bleak situation. Many tried to outwit whoever was pulling the strings but all had failed. Still, Shadow was determined to find out the truth that was behind all of the confusion. Just who was it that had brought them all together and for what purpose? If Shadow could discover this he'd count himself a winner. Maybe then he could decide whether it would be better to find a way out or stay.

He finally stood up, growing tired of waiting for Valyn. Keman had said that Valyn's room was M25. It shouldn't be that hard to find. At least, Shadow hoped not. He had promised Valyn he would stay safe and he wanted to keep his word.

Well, if Xigbar knew anything about that blonde Brit, the only way to get a good time would be to knock down the door and wriggle the alcohol before Luxord's face. Which, really, wasn't so bad an idea; it was no fun drinking by yourself when you didn't have a heart, and at times like this, Luxord could be pretty darn fun.

If you knew how to play his games.

So Xigbar lightly tossed his pokeball in the air as he walked along, whistling jauntily to himself as he did so. He knew where the Gambler's room was, so... time to roll the dice and see if he could get a nice evening. At least the booze was promising to be pretty good.

((Skipping all the way to here ))

Sasuke bid Allen a curt good-bye and then almost wished he hadn't, because he was left to figure out where he was going after that. He'd made no plans, which hadn't happened for a while, and so he was left with the unusually disjointed -- and frankly, more than slightly troubling -- intercom message. A short while later, an equally trouble radio message crackled to life as Sasuke rifled the sword out from under his mattress and jammed the nails he'd gotten from the town into his pockets.

He'd just improvise. It wouldn't be too bad. Sasuke could handle it.

Following the wall of the hallway was slow work, though, and he was working on memory without even Kakashi's single eye to help confirm.

Extremely tense, Sasuke worked his way towards the end of the hallway.

Finally, Sai came to a stop. A rather abrupt stop at that. There, coming nearer to them, was Sasuke. Thankfully for them, he hadn't gotten far at all. The ninja figured he had to have stayed in his room just a little while longer after the doors opened, as Sasuke wouldn't move that slow even blinded.

"Sasuke-kun," Sai said clearly, far enough back that Sasuke hopefully wouldn't strike if startled (though most likely he'd already heard them). "I've brought my friend the pirate. Were you still interested in meeting with him?" He didn't go on to mention anything about the previous night. Their plans hadn't happened, was all.

Usopp had found himself not-quite running after Sai, startled at how fast the ninja moved. At least he didn't get quite out of reach at any point, and Usopp couldn't blame Sai for being in a hurry if they might miss his acquaintance.

Unfriendly... Usopp could handle unfriendly, he thought. Zoro was unfriendly. Sanji too, sometimes. Of course, neither of them really meant it, and Sai hadn't called this Sasuke-kun a 'friend,' so jumping to conclusions might be dangerous.

"Hi. I'm Usopp. Nice to meet you," Usopp added helpfully, standing a little behind Sai.

Sasuke had moved the sword to a lowline defensive position (non-threatening, just in case the approaching footsteps were prone to take things the wrong way) by the time Sai spoke, and it was with no small amount of relief that he lowered the blade, although none of it showed on his face.

"Sai," he acknowledged, and nodded to show that he was indeed still interested in meeting the pirate. Usopp, huh? Interesting name. "Uchiha Sasuke."

Moving right on into business and completely ignoring the fact that he'd been almost floundering for a goal a few minutes ago, he asked, "Do you two have plans for the night?"

It was nice to know his roommie was still alive; Jack had always thought Edgeworth was a pleasant fellow, if a bit stuffy. (Though that just made him more fun to tease.) Jack took his time getting ready as the night officially started, putting on his apron and grabbing his knife and his skillet.

Not that he had a set destination in mind. He hadn't made arrangements with Gin. He supposed that he might as well wander and see what he found. Maybe he'd run in to Soujirou and see just how cute his new outfit was.

Fox had sat on his bed for what seemed like a long time after the door unlocked. Sitting there holding his sword and wondering what he should do. There was no plan of action, he didn't have any current mission to take care of at night...

There were experiments taking place, though, and Fox knew the way there. He had his sword and flashlight, leaving the chain hidden in his room.

He couldn't help but pause near Snake's room. There were people inside, talking.
