DAY 29: Arts and Crafts (second shift)

Jan 11, 2008 13:49

When Kyon entered the Arts and Crafts room, he was not only feeling physically fatigued, but mentally as well. The last few shifts had not gone well at all. Kyon had spent the better part of the last shift staring at his food, wondering what the hell he was going to do about the coming night. Aidou's intentions had to be anything but good, and he'd ( Read more... )

Hokuto hesitated over leaving Subaru and Seishirou, but she should see them soon enough... and if she was being honest, being with Sei-chan again was a little overwhelming for her, too.

Hoping to make herself a necklace (or find a way to improvise makeup), she opted for Arts and Crafts; feeling a little subdued for once, she looked for somewhere relatively quiet to sit.

When she spotted someone vaguely familiar, though, she decided company wasn't a bad thing. Wasn't that Haruhi's friend? And he looked like he could use someone to talk to.

"Good afternoon," she said, going over to sit next to him. "Kyon, right?"

Kyon just about jumped out of his seat when Hokuto approached him. The sudden appearance combined with her knowing his name got a startled cry out of him. Composing himself he looked at who greeted him and looked at her before he cautiously sat back down.

Trying not to be overly rude, Kyon asked, "Um, yeah. Who are you?"

People knowing who he was, was beginning to be an irritating trend, and this one even knew him by name.

She smiled, trying to look reassuring. "Sumeragi Hokuto. I guess Haruhi didn't mention me?" The fact that she hadn't seen the SOS Brigade's fearless leader in a few days worried her, but that wasn't a question to ask in the first five seconds of conversation. It was possible she'd simply missed her... even if it wasn't likely.

Despite not having been invited to, she sat down next to him; if he was really not in the mood to talk, she would leave him alone, but she figured if he was Haruhi's friend he was used to a little abruptness!

Oh.

So she knew Haruhi. Kyon for a moment shifted back into his role in the SOS Brigade as the one who apologized for anything Haruhi may have or will do in the future. "Ah, no, I'm sorry, I haven't seen her in a few days," He stopped on that for a moment. He wasn't going to mention the fight he had with her.

"If she's done anything at all, I'm sorry." He went on feeling much like he did back in North High. Apologize and hope you don't get expelled from school.

Calming down he put on a more natural expression. This wasn't anything to worry about just yet.

No visitor for Nadine. How unsurprising - who would visit her? Wherever this was, he was absent and that was all that mattered. Maybe he couldn't come to this place. If that was the case, she'd gladly live her life in the institute. It wasn't so bad. There were the monsters and the experiments, but it wasn't that hard to just stay in her room.

A small part of her had hoped to see Larry. Oh god, Larry. He hated her now, didn't he? He'd loved her once....

Bored - she did nothing during the day, save wander aimlessly wherever it was she was led to - Nadine asked to be taken to the arts and crafts room. She liked art.

She sat down with some construction paper and markers, white streaked hair hanging in her face, and began to draw.

Max slipped into the arts and crafts room. She wasn't really the artistic sort, but she was bored, and none of the other rooms had seemed appealing either. In the end, she'd advised her nurse to surprise her, and here she was.

She glanced around the room curiously before making her way over to a woman who sat by herself, sinking down in the seat across from her with a crooked, friendly smile. "Hiya," she greeted the other woman, hoping she wouldn't mind the interruption.

"Hi."

Nadine looked up briefly from whatever it was she was doing - hunched over as she was, it was difficult to see the paper in front of her. She didn't know this girl, but it didn't matter. She didn't really know anyone in the whole damn place.

"You must be more artistic than I am," Max snickered, eying the construction paper and markers. "You wouldn't see me attempting that without a coloring book. And even then, I was terrible at staying in the lines."

"I'm Max, by the way," she introduced, flicking a sideways glance at the woman who'd glanced at her briefly.

MOMO couldn't help but frown as the Head Doctor's voice came over the intercom. Not only on account of the little slip in words, but also since he mentioned more people would be arriving overnight. The fact that they kept people trapped in a place like this was bad enough; forcing people into nightshift right when they woke up was just plain cruel ( ... )

Meeting Luke and showing him Tetris had definitely been a nice break from the normal heaviness Sora had to deal with while in this place, so he was feeling pretty good when he left the Game Room at the shift change. He could have stayed there, but he was curious to see what was going on in the other rooms. It was kind of strange not having everyone packed into one room, and he wasn't sure which way was better ( ... )

In all honesty, she had thought this would be easier. Unfortunately, as MOMO quickly discovered, the little sewing project was going to be a little difficult. At the moment, her main problem was with the scissors, which clearly weren't made for cutting fabric-- in fact, MOMO had to wonder if they'd cut anything without some effort. But, she was determined to get it done, and even if it took more than one day to finish, she wasn't going to give up.

She had managed to cut out a couple pieces and had started on another when someone called her name, which caused her to pause and look up. As soon as she saw who it was, however, she couldn't help but smile.

"Hi, Sora!" she greeted him as he hurried over. It was nice to see someone she knew. "How have you been?"

The moment he reached the table, Sora fell into a seat across from the girl, smile remaining as MOMO returned the greeting. She definitely seemed to be in a better mood than the last time he had spoken to her, which was a huge relief.

"I've been good!" he responded quickly, looking over her work as he spoke. He wasn't entirely sure what she was trying to make, but he had never being very good at the arts and crafts thing as a kid. Kairi was, though -- he wondered if she had ever tried to bead together a necklace in this place. Did they even have the materials for that?

"How about you?" he asked, leaning forward in his seat eagerly. While she seemed better, he knew that some people were good at hiding what they were really going through. "Doing better since last time we talked?" He could only hope that she had realized that all of that hadn't been her fault.

[[from here (hope it is ok!)]]In spite of last night, things today weren't going as badly as they might have. His fever had broken and after getting some fresh air outside he was feeling much better. He might actually eat something come dinner time. He was most pleased with how easy it had been to obtain information from the young captain. And oh, the things he could do with it. People often forgot just how valuable information could be, but he had never been one to squander it. He still had to come up with a suitable message to post on the bulletin, but for all he'd gained in return, it was a small price to pay ( ... )

Gin held no particular interest in the boy, but it was his habit, he supposed, to gather information and of course, to find targets that were amusing to tease. He wondered which one Light would fall into. Either way, it was an interesting enough distraction for the moment.

"Ah~," he commented on the boy's progress. "Don't know how much good knittin's gonna do ya 'round here." The needles weren't even sharp. It could still be used of course, but it wasn't terribly practical. "Makin' a scarf for one of th' night-time beasties?"

He smirked, but didn't laugh, "Jus' playin'. M' Ichimaru Gin. Been here near a week. And y'self?"
