Haku was glad to come upon a fairly empty street. His ribs were aching and he wanted to find a place to rest for a moment. He checked his pulse and frowned at it's pace. Too fast, he was tired? From walking around?
This was ridiculous.
He leaned up against a wall and placed his arms gently over his stomach, closing his eyes.

Sure, he still wanted to screw her, whoever she was, but she had stood him up. The sleep had been nice and revitalizing, but Jack would have preferred company. And she hadn't exactly sought him out to get her journal back...

He smiled. "Any payment you would get from me though would have to wait until we returned to the hospital. Ah," he seemed to have remembered something. "Try not to get those taken from you," he added. "I won't replace what you lose."

Well, now that he had established himself as a thief, maybe Haku wouldn't be as forthcoming with those smokes. Then again, he doubted it would have any impact on the ninja's opinion of him.

"I take it she wasn't there either?" He shook his head. "Child's play. Anyone who gathers information as a trade knows that to write things down where people you don't want to see it CAN see it is foolish and a waste of time." He leaned back against the wall and placed his arms over his stomach, gently holding his sides.

He closed his eyes. "When you are returned to the hospital, let me know if you're interested in an .... agreement of sorts. I would be happy to work with you, despite our past... history."

Whatever, if Haku was going to ask for intangible and cryptic things, there was nothing the Fable could do except maybe wait until the evening and rob him blind. Actually, he rather liked that idea, though he'd need help...
