Nightshift 27: Hallway outside Doctor's Offices and Group Therapy Rooms

[ Coming from here ]This night wasn't quite shaping up the way Malik was expecting it to. Arguing with a little kid about which way to go in their little exploration adventure was not high on his list of things he needed to do right now. Maybe deep down inside, he was slightly grateful for the company (even if he were a little irritating), though ( Read more... )

Phibrizzo followed, but had given up for the moment on the cutesy act. It wasn't buying him any points with Malik and the other seemed just as responsive when he acted how he wanted to act. And really, there was no point to keeping it up since Malik probably would know it was all sugar coating now.

"I thought you had your heart set on that other room. Why are you going this way now?"

He sneered. "Or is it that you don't actually have anywhere in mind, but would HATE to see my 'request' filled? How petty."

On second thought, Malik could very well dispense with the kid's company. How could he think otherwise for even a moment? At least Bakura was somewhat useful despite his attitude problem. But Lei was just being a useless pain in the ass.

With a scowl, he turned to look at him over his shoulder.

"Hey, I already said take the damn stairs if you want to. There's one right over there...knock yourself out." He flashed his light toward it. Maybe Lei would do them both a favor and go off on his field trip alone.

"Ah, but I want to go with you."

Hellmaster smirked and quickened his step so he was walking with Malik. "You wouldn't send a defenseless kid out into the darkness alone, would you? Especially after you nearly trampled him! My, I think you'd owe it to him to see that he stayed out of danger..."

"I didn't trample you and I don't owe you anything," Malik muttered dismissively while he started to walk again, disgruntled.

If only he had his Millennium Rod right now.. He would order this kid back to his room like the misbehaving brat that he was. He had no idea who 'Mr. Zelgadis' was, but he was beginning to think he might agree with whatever sentiments the man had about Lei.

Naruto had sprinted ahead in a blur, but stopped himself when he remembered he wasn't moving with other ninja. Forcing himself to slow to a stop resulted in another ungraceful, skidding motion, and he glanced over his shoulder to check up on them before going forward again.

Usagi followed after Naruto as best she could; it had been easier when she was in the lead and everyone matched her pace. She wasn't too tired yet, but her stamina was decreasing more rapidly than it should. Naruto's stop gave her a chance to catch her breath before they were running towards the stairs...
