NIGHTSHIFT 27: F11-F20 HALLWAY

Oct 07, 2007 00:15

Ami stepped out into the dark hall. It looked like no one was out of their rooms yet. Heart fluttering slightly, Ami closed her eyes to allow them to adjust to the dark hall.

A few minutes later she opened them, able to make out the long corridor and various doors. She began walking quickly and quietly down the corridor.

Being her fourth night in Landel's, Momo had finally taken to tuning out the whine in the Head doctor's nighttime messages and only pay attention to the important parts. Such as the door in the kitchen to head down into the basement and his supposed invulnerability. That had to be a load of misinformation because if someone was truly invulnerable, they certainly wouldn't boast about it in an attempt to force others to give up on trying to attack him. If anything, this will make more prisoners want to test the theory ( ... )

The door in the kitchen. That seemed interesting. Jean still wondered what was upstairs, on the second floor, but it seemed like the key thing lately was the basement. Would they be going there tonight? That was really up to Captain Kuchiki.

She still regretted tossing the scalpel away, as that had made her feel a little more protected, wandering the halls. And she needed something, especially injured.

Tucking her map into her shirt, Jean set off for the group's designated meeting place.

And the game had begun. River, gaze focused on one thing alone, a certain something that hadn't a face or a voice, a certain something that no one else could see. Wisps and shadows crept along the floor of her mind, the fog blotting out the sight of everything. It was a handicap she'd grown accustomed to. Sometimes it was a fright and other a blessing. As it was with most things, notions, or experiences.

River stepped into the darkness, not needing a light just yet. She wasted little time as her feet fell silently on the floor. It was cold. Always so cold. Perhaps there might be warmth by the fire and her family reunion.

And so it was night again. MOMO took a deep breath and let it out slowly, feeling a mixture of relief and anxiety. Relief, since it was clear last nights events weren't due to repeat themselves, and anxiety since... well, it was nightshift.

She could still go for a little nap, too, but she had things she needed to do. While she wasn't sure what, if anything, Ami and the others had planned to do, she did know she didn't want to delay them.

So, after grabbing her flashlight and tucking her journal underneath an arm, MOMO peeked out into the hall. Seeing that it looked next to empty, the realian stepped out of her room and hurried down the hall.

Claire practically shot out of her room, not wanting to give Larxene any more time to question her lack of bruises and cuts. At this rate, too many people would know about her odd ability. It didn't bother her as much as when she'd first arrived - from the bulletin and her talks with the others, she certainly wasn't alone - but it still seemed unwise to reveal your ace.

Claire had left her room with nothing but her flashlight, which she tucked away in her pocket for the time being. She regretted not taking her weapon, but she certainly didn't want her roomate knowing where she kept such things and decided it was safer to take it out when Larxene wasn't around.

Sighing to herself, she reminded herself where she was supposed to meet TK and started to head out of the F-blocks.

[wandering in from over here]

Aidou had backtracked from Bella's hallway, almost aimlessly searching. He knew the odds were against him, after all nightshift was disorganized enough. Looking for one short little girl that could also be dead or missing wasn't in the best of odds. He would have preferred to feed on the same girl, one he had originally picked, but obviously no vampire lived in a perfect world and even with their full powers, sometimes it was just impossible to keep returning to he same person.

A vampire down on his luck could always hope, though. He was used to privilege.

She could have left before he'd even arrived, or she could've still been in a room - but what did he spot when he moved one hall deeper into the female cellblock? No one of any real note but Claire.

Good. Something was going right. And she wasn't even armed. Even better.

Claire felt her hairs stand up on her neck and got the feeling someone was watching her. Her eyes scanned the hallway and she turned on her flashlight, trailing it along the hallway in front of her and behind her just to make sure.

Good instincts, but not good enough. Not by far.

Aidou wasn't afraid of the light; he was slower and weaker by tenfold, but hunting was just... as normal as picking up a fork to eat. Avoiding detection was just basic stuff. More importantly, it was the girl he had to worry about. He just couldn't afford to draw any more attention unwittingly.

So when he slipped up behind her, he timed it to the best of his ability - watching everyone else in the hallway more closely than he did his prey - and clamped one arm around her soon-to-be struggling form, and one hand over her mouth, a much more clean version of what he had done only a few nights before.
