Ami stepped out into the dark hall. It looked like no one was out of their rooms yet. Heart fluttering slightly, Ami closed her eyes to allow them to adjust to the dark hall.
A few minutes later she opened them, able to make out the long corridor and various doors. She began walking quickly and quietly down the corridor.

Claire had left her room with nothing but her flashlight, which she tucked away in her pocket for the time being. She regretted not taking her weapon, but she certainly didn't want her roomate knowing where she kept such things and decided it was safer to take it out when Larxene wasn't around.
Sighing to herself, she reminded herself where she was supposed to meet TK and started to head out of the F-blocks.

Aidou had backtracked from Bella's hallway, almost aimlessly searching. He knew the odds were against him, after all nightshift was disorganized enough. Looking for one short little girl that could also be dead or missing wasn't in the best of odds. He would have preferred to feed on the same girl, one he had originally picked, but obviously no vampire lived in a perfect world and even with their full powers, sometimes it was just impossible to keep returning to he same person.
A vampire down on his luck could always hope, though. He was used to privilege.
She could have left before he'd even arrived, or she could've still been in a room - but what did he spot when he moved one hall deeper into the female cellblock? No one of any real note but Claire.
Good. Something was going right. And she wasn't even armed. Even better.

Aidou wasn't afraid of the light; he was slower and weaker by tenfold, but hunting was just... as normal as picking up a fork to eat. Avoiding detection was just basic stuff. More importantly, it was the girl he had to worry about. He just couldn't afford to draw any more attention unwittingly.
So when he slipped up behind her, he timed it to the best of his ability - watching everyone else in the hallway more closely than he did his prey - and clamped one arm around her soon-to-be struggling form, and one hand over her mouth, a much more clean version of what he had done only a few nights before.

The realization that she was being dragged back in the direction of the rooms had her heart pumping faster, and terrible memories of Brody started to resurface.
Please, please God don't let it happen again
She struggled harder now, completely desperate to get away.

No, Aidou was upset, and he just wanted some food. He wanted to slake some of his hunger and relieve some of his stress, and was often scolded for being too much of a glutton when his emotions got the best of him, because he was sort of a stress eater. In the end, he was at least strong enough to relocate a struggling waif into the nearest empty room, further eliminating witnesses. Easier to escape unseen too.
The vampire - having not needed to resort to foul manhandling throughout most of his life - found it easier to just tighten his hold on the squirming thing, squeezing her closer with the forearm around her body. It either that or knock her unconscious entirely, and it seemed even worse to feed off someone who wasn't even awake like some vampires ( ... )

Now, though, Claire couldn't even let out a cry as arms tightened around her. Along with the hand clamped over her mouth, it was getting harder to breathe, and her attempts to struggle became half hearted as she realized it was useless. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She just had to wait. Wait for an opening.

Still, fear was like an amplifier for the mix of unstable memories and emotions lingering within him - the fear of death, of being hurt, of watching others being hurt, of being unable to do anything in the face of pain ( ... )

Still though, she wasn't going to just sit around and let him take whatever he wanted when he felt like it. At least he could let her know who he was.
Claire let herself go completely limp, her flashlight falling from her hands as her legs fell out from under her, pretending the shock and lack of oxygen (he was still holding onto her rather tightly) had caused her to faint. She needed a little slip, anything she could take advantage of. Claire hoped he fell for it.

She was faking.
Or maybe she wasn't, but her heartbeat was still as loud and panicked as ever. Maybe he was smothering her, that could be it. It was easy enough to loosen his grip slightly, though still wary. She was, after all, a good deal shorter than he was, and was in a poor position to try and lash out and strike at him. Not that it would make any difference. His fangs were still locked in the flesh of her neck.
The sound of the flashlight hitting the ground was needless noise, but not exceedingly loud. He kicked it aside, sending it spinning under the bed. There. No possible light for her to see by; it would've been better if she'd held on to it, no doubt.

He hadn't loosened her enough to take advantage, and now her flashlight was kicked away somewhere. However, his hand moved from her mouth to the front of the throat, making it easier to breathe.
Suddenly, she heard the uncomfortable sounds of metal screeching and groaning within the walls, and a sense of dread went through her.
"What is that?" she asked, mainly to herself, since she doubted her stalker would answer her.

He pulled away, licking at the mess automatically, more or less feeling a rising sense of disquiet at the blood and the sound straining pipes. Not that he had a problem with blood, but the thought that it was suddenly free-flowing through the plumbing wasn't a pleasant one. Gross. And weird.
A little scary if he wanted to think about how unhygienic that was.
"What is that?" he blurted out at the exact same time as Claire, their voices overlapping almost perfectly.

Right now, though, it seemed a bad idea to stay in the position she was in if this place was going all to hell. Tugging on his sleeve, she asked, "Mind letting me go now?"
She had to get to TK soon and make sure he was okay.

If she was smart, she would keep the sound of his voice in mind, and match it with his face - but he could only hope her lack of concern was a variation of idiocy. Cheerleaders weren't known for their academic integrity, either. That was what he had to rely on, unless he wanted to kill her.
Kill her, huh? Pricking his lip with the tip of a fang, his hands tightened around her. Kaname-sama would understand...
That argument didn't seem to want to hold up under more careful scrutiny.
Turning her around to face the room, he answered her question with a hard shove, just as he had before. Half a second to step out that door unseen was all he needed. With the building providing a new set of festivities, not even a perfect opportunity to feed would make him stay in one area for long. It was a little like running away, but not from the things happening within the walls, more like the blatantly human uncertainty and dismay ( ... )

Fighting the urge to let out a string of curses, she felt around the floor of the room until her hands came into contact with her flashlight.
Grabbing it, she made her way out the door.

It was the thought circling in Aidou's mind when he idly watched her go from across the hall, eye color having cooled from bloodglow, and returned to its softer, normal blue. Just the intention, half-formed as it was, brought up the irrational and clawing sorrow - a human murdering a human and watching, useless, dreaming eternally, and barely aware - and then the more familiar hum of deep-seated unease, at wondering why his Kaname would outright murder one of his own class, and drink from her dying body -
Once she was out of earshot, Aidou let out a harsh sigh, and pressed his hands to his face. Stop it, get out, just stop bothering me, sometimes I just don't want to - He would've thought he would have no issue with murder, but he just wasn't sure... he just wasn't sure he would be any more happy after he'd done the deed, especially when he thought of that child Aoyagi Ritsuka, but he'd be lying if he said his control wasn't walking a thin line lately ( ... )
