NIGHTSHIFT 27: F11-F20 HALLWAY

Oct 07, 2007 00:15

Ami stepped out into the dark hall. It looked like no one was out of their rooms yet. Heart fluttering slightly, Ami closed her eyes to allow them to adjust to the dark hall.

A few minutes later she opened them, able to make out the long corridor and various doors. She began walking quickly and quietly down the corridor.

Maybe I should just take the risk and kill them now.

It was the thought circling in Aidou's mind when he idly watched her go from across the hall, eye color having cooled from bloodglow, and returned to its softer, normal blue. Just the intention, half-formed as it was, brought up the irrational and clawing sorrow - a human murdering a human and watching, useless, dreaming eternally, and barely aware - and then the more familiar hum of deep-seated unease, at wondering why his Kaname would outright murder one of his own class, and drink from her dying body -

Once she was out of earshot, Aidou let out a harsh sigh, and pressed his hands to his face. Stop it, get out, just stop bothering me, sometimes I just don't want to - He would've thought he would have no issue with murder, but he just wasn't sure... he just wasn't sure he would be any more happy after he'd done the deed, especially when he thought of that child Aoyagi Ritsuka, but he'd be lying if he said his control wasn't walking a thin line lately...

Maybe it would be fine, if he left it. Let Claire live. She might not be perceptive enough to connect the dots, and even if she did, there was always a fallacy in logic, right?

Sure.

The young vampire had an inkling about the bathrooms - what would probably be oozing out of the faucets, etc. But the vampire had no tangible desire to investigate, contrary to popular opinion when it came to vampires and their unquenchable desire for blood. Like a human, once he'd appeased his hunger for the time being, there was really no point in hanging around in the kitchen. Aidou slipped out of the hall, more quickly then when he'd come.

622 almost managed to keep from breaking into a run when he finally saw Claire. Almost. Even with what little detail he could see by the light from the glowrod, things didn't look good.

He slowed as he got close, worry plain to see on his face. "What happened?" Fierfek. He really hoped it wasn't as bad as it looked. Idiot. Should have worked out a more secure arrangement for the RV points!

"TK," Claire breathed out in relief. At least he and his companion were okay.

She reached up and touched her neck, inspecting the specks of blood that came off on her fingers. "It was a patient, I think. I didn't see his face, he just grabbed me from behind."

She shook her head dismally. "He ran off before you got here. I think all the noise scared him off." That, or he was finished taking what he wanted...

The uncomfortable sound of the pipes twisting within the walls was still clear in her ear, and there was the disturbing smell of blood, all around the building. That fact that it was so thick in the air disturbed her more than anything.

"I wonder what's happening," she murmured. Were the other patients okay? Was it their blood she was smelling?

Faust frowned in the direction the other person had gone off in then turned to Claire. He gestured to her neck. "Did you need any help miss?"

He was glad TK had found her. He was starting to worry himself.

TK swung his glowrod around, checking back down the hall. He hadn't seen anyone on his way down this row of cells, and it still looked empty. How the hell could he have been so inobservant? It was almost like dealing the spy on the Death Star all over again...

Enough of that. "It seemed like there was a hell of a lot of blood coming from the 'freshers." He hadn't heard anything that would indicate a fight going on inside, but if there was that much blood around already, any fight would have been over already...

And he was still worried about the blood on Claire. It didn't look like it had come from any sort of wound he was used to seeing on people's necks. Whoever it was that attacked her might have just botched the job and ran, but with that kind of element of surprise, it seemed unlikely. "Are you going to be alright?" She looked relatively alright from what he could tell, but he wasn't the medic here.

Claire gave both men a small smile, grateful for their concern. "I'll be fine, don't worry."

She wiped what was left of the blood on her neck away, suddenly realizing that the wound was barely there anymore. How was she going to explain this?

Hoping it was dark enough that they wouldn't notice, Claire let TK's words sink in. By 'freshers', she assumed he must have meant showers. "I wonder if everyone else is okay..." she said.

Something had been bothering her since night started, though. "It might just be a trap, but do you think we should head to the kitchen, like the Head Doctor mentioned? He said something about 'answers'..."

Even if it was a lie, maybe there would be something of interest. Or maybe others had fallen into whatever trap he set and needed help.

No wound, though that blood had to come from somewhere... Faust had seen similar marks before, and he wouldn't worry about it until the young woman started trying to kill either TK or himself.

He smiled at Claire. "I will follow you both where ever it is that you choose to go," he said with a smile. "But perhaps people might need help if we head in that direction?"

Faust didn't seem concerned about Claire, which made him slightly less worried. He always deferred to the opinion of those more knowledgeable in a subject than himself. Even with how badly that had all gone before, he couldn't shake the need for some sort of rank structure to make him feel a little more grounded.

"The kitchen is a possibility. Others will have probably made attempts to reach it by now, so threats might have been removed or more clearly marked by now." Either whatever-might-be-there was a bloody mess by now, or it was surrounded by a bloody mess. Whichever was the case, it would be a lot harder to miss...
